Pregnant after a Loss

Where do I belong??

Soo... 2nd miscarriage on May 31st. Me and DH were not trying, not stopping as in not counting days, testing, etc. . At my follow up MD after we did not use any birth control method, she told us to be careful give it 2 months until we tried again, which we have followed since my appt 1.5 weeks ago. Well.... Today my nipples were a little tender like the previous 2 pregnancies, so I took a test BFP... Very, very faint. But positive. I haven't even had a period??? I'm freaking out, and can't believe it. What are the odds?? I'm so nervous. The reason we weren't concerned before appointment was the miscarriage before she did not ask me to wait, so I thought or would be the same answer!!

I keep saying, nothing you can do now. What's done is done. Take each day one at a time.

Sorry for the ramble. I'm just freaking out!

Re: Where do I belong??

  • You should contact your doctor. It could just residual HCG from your miscarriage if you didn't track your numbers back to zero, or it could be a new pregnancy and just very very early.
If its the former, congratulations. There's many stories of successful pregnancies directly after miscarriages. It's generally better to actually follow your doctors advice, but what's done is done. If its the latter, I suggest you learn about one of the many forms of birth control like condoms, charting, etc to help you follow your doctors advice.

I did have hcg levels followed down, so I know this is not residual. I usually do chart, etc. since TTC in October. I DO follow my OBs advice, but during the 2.5 weeks after miscarriage until follow up, she did not give me instructions to use any form of birth control. Like I said... My 1st miscarriage her instructions were that we could resume TTC immediately, so I went with that until I was told otherwise. Only 1.5 weeks ago is when I learned that this time she wanted us to wait 2 cycles.

If she followed your numbers down and now you're getting a BFP, you're pregnant and you were right to come to PgAL.  Congratulations.

Thanks, I was here for such a short time in May, but now I just feel that huge uncertainty impending doom feeling. My brain thinks "can this time really work, especially under the circumstances!"
  • Lurking also.. FWIW, my OB told me the main reason why they suggest waiting 2 cycles before TTCing is so that its easier for dating your pregnancy.. If you've not had a period, makes it hard to know when you ovulated.. But, like my OB also said, most OBs will do a dating ultrasound anyway, so it's really a moot point.  She said, from a standpoint, if your body isn't ready to get pregnant again, you won't get pregnant.

Congratulations, and I'm sending you tons and tons of sticky baby dust!!!

Thank you so much! I'll take all the encouraging words I can get!
  • Congratulations! I'm new here too.

I also saw you posted on TTCAL. This is the right place, not TTCAL. That said, DO NOT DELETE your post there. Please just edit it to apologize and explain you posted on the wrong board. Those women have been through so much, and generally hate seeing someone asking if they are pregnant; it can be such a reminder that they are not.

    Thanks and congrats again!

im not sure who you were referring too, but i did NOT post on TTCAL this post! I KNOW not to do that!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must have been another poster that you are confused with!  :)

  • My doctor said to wait to make sure all tissue was gone to avoid the new pregnancy not implanting correctly. But I know women who have tried again right away and had healthy pregnancies. Good luck to you and congrats. Now is when the worry really starts but try to enjoy being pregnant. T and P for you.
