I know we don't have babies anymore, but I'm still fretting over Nate's size!
He's such a little guy! I'm not so worried about him staying in his tiny percentiles, but since we don't go to the pedi every month anymore, I'm not so sure how he's doing. I need to find a growth chart for the big kids I guess and measure him. I think he may have gotten taller, but he went from 28 lbs down to 25 lbs! He looks so skinny! Has anyone else's kid lost weight before?? Should I worry? He has a 2.5 yr check up in a couple of weeks (due to speech issues, which we have already addressed now, but whatever, he needs weighed!), so I guess I'll ask the pedi what he thinks then. He's such a picky eater lately, it's so hard to get anything in him! So, questions!
1) Has your toddler lost weight before?
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc.
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins?
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat?
Re: Old fashioned size question!
So, I just found the chart and according to it, for height, he's not even ON the dang chart!! Like around 3%. He was always in the 14% on the WHO charts as a baby, but this is a CDC chart. Is it common for them to drop percentiles going from the WHO to the CDC as a toddler?
Are you sure he really lost weight? If you're using a home scale, it just might be unreliable. Nora did recently have a crazy growth spurt and her pants started falling off her because she grows up and then out. It's funny, sort of.
1) Not that I know of, but we don't weigh her at home.
2) At her 2.5-year visit, Nora was 25.6 lbs and 35.5 inches. She's now in the 75th percentile for height! As someone who started out life below the growth charts, that's insane!
3) Yes, she takes a multivitamin with iron, since her iron was a smidge low at her 2-year visit.
4) Veggies, yes. Meat, occasionally, and usually only if it's ribs.
I'm a vegetarian, though, so we definitely haven't pushed the issue.
1) Has your toddler lost weight before?
No, but he hasn't gained weight in the last 6 months, either.
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc.
34 pounds, 38 inches, 3T clothing, 8w shoe
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins?
No.
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat?
He's a carnivore for sure! He LOVES meat. Veggies...we're working on it. He loves pouches, but frowns at veggies on his plate. I still offer them, though, and in the last 2 weeks we've made progress (he has tried peas, broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower).
Yes, DS has lost weight before. His weight has been up & down since 2 yrs old. We attribute it to him being sick, his pickiness & the stress of adjusting to daycare
At his 2.5 yr check up, he was 25ish lbs. He's 9% for weight & 70% for height (I forget the measurement), so his skinniness looks even more extreme.
The pedi is having us give him pediasure & we have to bring him back next month for a weight check.
He's in mostly 2T stuff. I bought him 3T for summer, but it's very big on him. He is a 7.5 shoe size.
He was on an Rx vitamin, but we ditched it for Flintstone gummies. He loves them.
Yes, he eats some vegetables, but not a lot of meat. He will eat carrots & broccoli mostly. He will eat breaded chicken cutlet & meatballs/meatloaf. He just doesn't eat a lot of anything in general. He eats 1-2 pouches per day, though.
Hmmm, we might have to try the pedisure. Nate will only eat turkey bacon and some chicken and green beans. I'm worried about iron intake.
Yes, we have a baby scale that converts to a toddler scale. We bought it when he was a newborn and having weight issues. The kid never.stops.moving. though, so I really think he just burns through calories. He gets 3 meals and 2 snacks! He has gotten really picky lately though.
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? We went to the pedi at 29 months for a weight check. With no diaper or clothes he weighed 24.8 lbs and was 34 inches tall. That puts him at the 5th percentile for weight for CDC and 11th percentile for weight for WHO. Both CDC and WHO put him at the 9-10th percentile for height. And for added fun, weighing him in no clothes, but with a cloth diaper, he was 28 lbs.
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins? Yes half a kids Flintstone.
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat? My kid would be a fruititarian if we'd let him. He ate 3 bites of asparagus yesterday but that was the first vegetable to pass his lips in weeks, assuming you don't count ketchup as a vegetable. Meat - he does okay. He'll eat chicken nuggets, but not chicken breast. He'll sometimes eat fish, and rarely beef. For other protein sources he'll usually eat black beans, refried beans, and peanut butter.
Last night for dinner he ate water. Oh, and he licked a pickle.
BFP #2 5/27/12. EDD 2/1/13. m/c and D&C 6/21/12.
1) Has your toddler lost weight before?
Yes, but only in the past couple of months. He was 27 at his 2y appointment and is now 26.
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc.
26lbs, 34.5", size 7 shoes, 2T clothes
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins?
Yes, vitamin drops with fluoride.
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat?
Yes, he will eat almost anything I give him! He's not picky at all, but doesn't always have the greatest appetite. He loves raw veggies and cooked veggies (with the exception of zucchini), and has eaten every piece of meat I've ever set in front of him. He especially loves fish and turkey bacon.
Griff has not lost weight before but he hasn't gained in forever. Hes been 29 lbs for a LONG time.
I can't remember how tall he is but hes growing out of his pants like crazy so I know hes growing taller. Everytime we see family, someone mentions "wow! Did Griff lose weight??" We always say "no hes just growing taller."
Hes a size 8 for shoes.
Griff takes Cars gummie vitamins everyday.
Griff likes peas...thats pretty much it for veggies. Only recently is Griff eating meat on the regular and its mostly just chicken. Hes still really picky and its really hard to get him to eat. Sometimes he doesn't even touch his breakfast. Its so frustrating.
1) I don't think he's ever lost weight, but he's definitely slowed down in gaining since he turned 2.
2) I think he's about 32-33lbs, maybe around 37" or so, shoe size of 8.5, pants are 2T since he's not in diapers anymore and shirts are 3T
3) He takes half a Flintstone vitamin with breakfast- got a big jug from Costco.
4) hahahahah - he probably hasn't eaten a real solid vegetable in over a year. We get veggies in him via pouches. We have gotten more diligent about putting veggies on his plate at dinner every night since DS2 started eating solids too - but he never eats them. He's pretty good with meat most of the time.
LOL - You made my night!
Wish my kid could eat peanuts - I'd be shoving the pb down him!
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc. 30.4 lbs, not sure on height (i should measure her), shoes- 7-8
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins? whenever we remember
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat? the only veggie she will eat is corn on the cob and sometimes carrots if there're in something like soup. She LOVES meat (fish, chicken, pork, beef). She can eat half a steak by herself.
1) Has your toddler lost weight before?
not really
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc.
We just had her 30mo visit. She is 35.75" and 27lbs,9oz. Shoe size is a 5
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins?
Yes, we give her the target brand gummies as her treat for pooping on the potty
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat?
Yes, she will eat pretty much anything. She prefers everything mixed all together as opposed to separated on her plate. ex: chicken, brown rice, peas and carrots all cut up and mixed in one bowl.
1) Has your toddler lost weight before? Yep, two pounds after a bad stomach virus. He gained it back, but slowly.
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc.
28lbs/37in/7.5shoe
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins? Yep, since 12 months when he registered as having low iron stores.
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat? Vegetables he does pretty well, meat is okay. He usually eats at least a couple bites. He's a decent eater but not a big appetite.
1) Has your toddler lost weight before? No, he hasn't, but he's been holding around 30 lbs for awhile now. It's been several months since he's gained any weight.
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc. 30 lbs and a little over 36". I think he's a 7 1/2 shoe now. He wears 2T. I bought some 3T summer clothes, but they are a tad big. I have to roll up the waist on his 3T shorts.
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins? Yes, a chewable toddler Flintstone vitamin. He loves 'em. He thinks they are a treat.
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat? We joke that he's a vegetarian. The boy does not like meat! It's a miracle when he does eat meat. He eats a lot of tofu and yogurt, so he gets his protein there. He doesn't like veggies much either. He will devour corn though.1) Has your toddler lost weight before?
I think DS has lost weight (I don't weigh him like I probably should) because he looks skinnier. But DH pointed out he is turning into a little boy and shedding the baby fat. DS has gotten taller so I think his weight is just being redistributed.
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc.
I can tell you 18 month pants, 2T or 24 month shirts (although he can still wear 18 months but the other 2 make him look older), size 7 shoe. Not sure on weight/height
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins?
No
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat?
If we tell him a meat is ham, he will eat it. He ate ribs last night because DS told him it was ham. He LOVES fruit but doesn't really touch vegetables unless you count potatoes.
1. never lost weight but has had periods of slow growth between 1-2
2. Not sure height b/c he just had a super growth spurt (like pants that fit a month ago are capris lol) I'm guessing he's about 36" but has a very long torso. Weight = 28lbs, shoe 6.5
3. regular gummy vit
4. loves meat & fish, picky about veggies - loves peas, corn, carrots, and broccoli, hates green beans, potatoes, green pepper. Does not seem to like grilled foods (I think the black marks weird him out)
1) I'm not sure! however, he recently stepped on a scale and weighed less than I expected him to.
2) height -- 36in, I think, because he just barely made the cut-off to ride solo on a particular ride at a fair we were at this weekend, and I'm pretty sure 36 was the cut-off.
weight -- ok I'm a loser and I said he weighed less than I expected, but I don't remember the value! It was definitely under 30lbs...maybe 26 or 28 lbs? He doesn't look skinny, though, so it couldn't have been very low.
shoe size -- 8.5
3) no, but maybe he should...he's not great with eating his veggies!
4) he's ok with meat, and surprisingly good with fish. veggies are VERY hit or miss. when he likes one he'll scarf it down but most of the time he rejects them.
1) Has your toddler lost weight before? Nope.
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc. As of yesterday, he is 39 lbs and 39 inches! He is getting SO big and heavy, he's going to be carrying me soon. Shoe size is 9 and he's in 3T clothes.
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins? Yes, vitamin drops with fluoride.
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat? Yup. He's a great eater. Guess that's how he got to be 39 lbs!
I didn't realize how lucky I am to have such a good eater until this post! I was worried that my little guy was only eating a few bites of veggies lately with dinner, but I guess that's more than lots of yours eat in a month!
1. Has my toddler lost weight before? Not that I know of.
2. We don't measure him or weigh him often, but I think he's around 30 or 31 lbs, and he wears 2T clothes, size 8 shoes.
3. Daily vitamins? Nope. But fluoride drops because the water isn't fluoridated here. (don't ask).
4. Will he touch a vegetable and/or meat? Yep!
He'll eat pretty much all of them, especially likes asparagus, red peppers, carrots, snow peas, corn, and swiss chard. He used to be a big tomato fan, but not as much recently. Last night he surprised me by eating lettuce. We have a CSA share, and attend the farmers' market regularly, so there are always lots of veggies in the house in the summer/fall. We talk about vegetables a lot, too. But mostly, I think I'm just lucky to have a good eater!
His favorite meat is probably, surprisingly, fish, then chicken. He stated that he "loved" bacon last night, though, and eats pork, beef (when we have it, which is rarely), too.
1) Has your toddler lost weight before? No, well except for that one time he was really sick, but he is a slow gainer.
2) For fun: What are your Dec baby's stats? Weight/height/shoe size/etc. 36 1/2", 29 lbs, size 7 shoe, 24 mo clothes...some 2T stuff will fit too.
3) Does your toddler take daily vitamins? Not every day...it is hit and miss, when we remember it.
4) Will your toddler touch a vegetable and/or meat? He loves many veggies and all fruit. Meat is not his fave, but he will usually eat most of what we give him.
