I'm considering this big step after DD is born. What are your thoughts on this? This is my fourth I have two boys and a girl already, baby 4 is a girl. I love kids and also am a teacher and a Girl Scout troop leader. I just feel ready to be done , but it is scary as The hubby And I are presently deprecated an trying to work things out. I don't want more but if my marriage fails and I fall in love again and he wants a baby I will not be able to:/ This is a very hard choice .

Re: Tubal litigation
A tubal ligation and sterilization is a pretty final procedure. You have to be sure you're done having babies! Have you considered all your birth control options? IUD perhaps? Is this your first?
Just wanted to add that although a tubal CAN be reversed, success rates of pregnancy are not great, and you're at increased risk of tubal scarring, blockage, and ectopic pregnancies.
If there's a slight chance you might want to get pregnant again I'd not recommend, and suggest something more appropriate. My 2 cents!

I actually just met a girl who had her tubes tied after her fourth baby. She had baby #5 with her when I met her
She said that they grew back together and the baby was a surprise, so I don't think it's really even as final as it seems.
IMO, it's not worth it. Especially if you foresee a time in the future when you may want another baby. Just use BC or NFP after baby is born.
Like pp have said, if you're not sure, don't do it because reversals are not always successful with either option.
There is no way I will get my tubes tied. If I end up with a csection with this baby, it would be an emergency. So they won't have time to do anything extra.
We are done after this one. We've known we would be done after 3 before we even started having kids.
One of my main reasons for refusing to get my tubes tied is that a friend of mine lost his sister in law to the surgery. Her surgeon accidentally cut her bowel and she went septic. She died 3 days later leaving behind 3 small kids.
The risks from a vasectomy is far less.
I know more people who have gotten pregnant after they H's had a vasectomy than after the woman having a tubal. And I'm not talking about the first 3-6 months before the vasectomy is finally complete. This is a couple years later.
Are you having a c-section? If so, this is something that you should think about. However, if you don't have a c-section, there's no benefit to doing the tubal ligation right away, so there's no benefit to forcing yourself to make this decision before you're ready.
