Subject: NBR - NSA/Snowden, IRS, TWA 800...
I barely watch/hear news anymore since LO was born. But the news stories lately are really a bit concerning, regardless or where your political beliefs fall.
NSA/Snowden - Our government is spying on us. (And damn, Snowden has balls of steel. I'm the same age, can't even imagine!)
IRS - Targeting Conservative groups for audit.
TWA Flight 800 - Crash investigators coming forward saying what really happened was covered up by the government.
It really makes me wonder where we'll be as a country in 20-50 years.
Re: NBR - NSA/Snowden, IRS, TWA 800...
Sometimes I let myself get really stressed out over this exact thought. Then I remind myself that this is exactly what our parents/grandparents/etc were thinking all those years ago... and we all still managed to make it (as a country, and otherwise) so I think we'll all survive
Proud Mama to cleft cutie
This might be an early UO, but I don't mind. This wasn't a surprise to me when this info 'leaked', tbh, I thought this was common knowledge. I guess I really don't care if the government is reading emails or what ever because 1. I have nothing to hide, I don't do illegal stuff, and Im pretty sure they aren't because I'm your typical lower middle class American. And 2. Because it keeps my family safe from terrorists and others who would like to harm people in our country.
Personally, I think this Snowden is kind of an idiot. He's spilling government 'secrets' that are put in place to keep us safe, it's not 'the man keeping us down' or sumshit. But thats my 2 cents. I haven't been paying that close of attention to the story.
It's a violation of the 4th Amendment.
Yep, and I disagree with that too.
I don't own anything long enough that I'd want to touch this with....
I choose life !!!
and chocolate
Lol. Yeah. I normally don't comment on political stuff. But personally,as long as keeps people with shoe bombs off the airplane I'm bringing my kids on and other events we go to, I really DGAF. But that's just me.
Can I have a smoothie instead of chocolate?
Oh my, excuse me.
Where would you draw the line on how many of your freedoms you'd give up for the illusion of safety?
People are concerned about "1984", but it seems we're going the way of "Brave New World" (same outcome, different method). https://abetterkuwait.files.wordpress.com/2011/08/orwell-huxley.jpg
A big old "104" to that !!!
And Hal, you can have what you want. If its mine, it's yours. We have an open kitchen policy here.
But yeah, big shocker, someone keeps tabs on our emails, text messages, phone conversations?
I don't have anything to hide but, I imagine if they get ahold of mine and the hot husbands sexting conversations, they'll choose another line of work quickly.
That's hazard pay worthy right there.
I'm sorry, I'm really not trying to be rude to you or snarky or anything but
These are not topics I usually comment on. I should have just stayed away.
