Hi all! My expected due date is January 22, 2014. We have our first OB appointment this Wednesday and are quite anxious as I have suffered 2 miscarriages previously both at 5 weeks. The one thing I am having a really hard time with right now is body image. I'm only 5'2" so I've got a small abdomen to fit all of this baby in to. I am a curvy, heavier girl to begin with and I've always been able to dress appropriately for my body type. I am really really bloated because I have some digestion issues and I'm really concerned about what to wear all of a sudden. I am afraid someone is going to ask me if I'm 4 or 5 months along already if I let my belly show at all. Is anyone else in this type of situation? I don't know when its appropriate to start dressing my belly or to keep trying to hide it. Its getting more and more difficult and its really starting to get me down. I have read too many things about pregnancy saying at 10 weeks you could start showing but it might also take at least 2 or 3 more weeks to pop. What should I do? I need some support and encouragement. My husband is trying to be supportive but I think the poor guy is at a loss on what to do with his pouty wife, LOL!
Re: First time mom/pregnancy... questions
So I say... Do what's comfortable!!! Maternity clothes are a heavenly treat!
I'm 12 weeks with one little one. We lost a twin at 8.5 weeks. I had a very flat tummy prior to IVF meds and pregnancy. So having had twins and having had a flat tummy made me show even sooner than average, I think. I have stopped wearing pant out of the house, even with my bellaband. It's too uncomfortable. I mostly wear dresses, which is completely normal for me anyway. Surprisingly though, most of my dresses are empire waist so they look like maternity dresses (kinds convenient) but now I have a belly that shows. I would like to wait another week before I tell people at work. But I am always worried that someone is going to say that I am big for being this early. I would prefer to not say that "I lost a twin, thanks for the reminder" but maybe that is appropriate if someone calls me big
Then again, I do like having the bump. We have been trying to 5 years and are so very thankful to be preggo!
Not sure if this helps, but I thought that I could relate.

Yeah, I feel you. My pants started not to fit a few days ago. The belly band is great for that (Target)! Dresses are also a great idea. If you don't have many, you can try getting some at Ross. They always have great, very economical dresses there so you won't break the bank, and can use them after your baby is born. Loose cardigans have been working pretty well for me as well in hiding my growing belly. I bought one pair of maternity jeans (also at Ross for $12!), and they fit great, but they really make me look pregnant since the denim stops just under my belly and then it's just the soft elastic band. So I wear those with very loose tops. Right now I'm just letting people assume I'm gaining weight. Not exactly fun, but better than them knowing this early.
Hope you can figure out a solution that works for you!
