When I was BFing, I never woke up to pump. Granted, I woke up in a pool of milk and had to sleep on towels and double up on nipple pads....but the sleep was just way too good to pass up. If I woke up before the baby I would pump while he was still sleeping and then BF him when he woke up or vice versa. (I had to both pump and BF in the morning because I overproduced). I would say that if you can stand it, to let yourself get the extra rest and just pump for a little longer in the AM
Once I stopped BFing and ran out of my breastmilk suppy and started formula, he stopped STTN
Z isn't STTN but E did from 1mos to 5mos old. I didn't pump at night and only did in the morning if I felt like I was too engorged for her to latch. Because she did it consistently those four months my body eventually adjusted.
Currently going through our second deployment. Can't wait for Zoe to meet her daddy!
I'd say try not to pump at night, or pump the bare minimum. If LO has dropped a feed your supply should adjust for that in a few days. If you pump then, it just means you'll keep up the supply at that time.
E sleeps 7:30 to about 3:30 or later, so he goes about 8 hours without eating, but I only feed on one side per feed. He usually goes another few hours after that MOTN feed before he wakes, so that's 11 hours or so I last on one side. I don't pump in the MOTN ever. I actually don't think I've pumped in months. He doesn't take a bottle, so I sort of gave up. I never have leaking or engorgement issues, I think my supply has mostly regulated by now. Although I did have mastitis a few weeks ago for the first time... so maybe I'm not the best example lol.
Emma was sleeping 10 hours at 4 months (she hasn't since.. sigh) - but I waited it out and dealt with the engorgement for a few nights - my body adjusted within 3 days. These days though.. I'd be tempted - I'm often low on milk and she's not really digging ANY formula.. (well she's not digging any milk either way.. so maybe thats an age thing.. anyway...)
Up until a six weeks ago I was getting up and pumping around the 6 hour mark whenever he'd STTN. Now that's he's consistently STTN I just get up 30 minutes earlier and pump, then shower and eat, then get him up to nurse.
If I don't pump, I'm usually so engorged he has trouble latching and chokes on the milk. Plus he doesn't fully empty me and I'm uncomfortable at work until my first pump. Not to mention it's nice to have the extra milk in case I need it for bottles or mixing into food.
I would never do this. It sounds like the worst of all possible scenarios.
SLEEP THROUGH THE PAIN, BEANZ!
But in all seriousness, the first few times LO started STTN (it's still not a regular thing, but I'm not BFing anymore), I was really engorged for his first MOTN feeding. Then, after a few times, my body adjusted, and I was much less engorged.
No. I'm SAHM and I EBF, so I don't need a freezer stash, plus DS has been refusing the bottle anyway, so there's no point for me to pump really. My body adjusted pretty quickly when he started STTN. His last feed is around 7:30-7:45pm, and he wakes up around 6am. I usually do pump after his morning feed just to "emtpy" out, and I use the pumped milk to make oatmeal for him.

sleep was good i'd wake once to pump and bf and pump once he woke.
pedi says he can sleep at least 8 hours without a feeding at night

But do what you need to to avoid mastitis!

No never. Hel.l no. No no no no no.
DD SSTN half the time. I supplement with formula at daycare most days (5 ounces). I would rather supplement and STTN myself.
