Csection incision pain

For all you csection mama's out there, when did your incision start to feel comfortable? I had an emergency csection 9 days ago and it's still really uncomfortable and sometimes painful but it looks good with no signs of infection. I don't want to take my pain pills anymore because they make me groggy. And I can't bring myself to wear anything other than sweatpants yet.

Re: Csection incision pain

  • I felt pretty good after the first week, but honestly didnt feel "normal" until about 4 weeks post cs.

He's my fairytale, a dream when I'm not sleeping.

  • I am 18 days pp and mine is barely sensitive anymore. I still wear underwear above my incision, but my steri strips are gone now, and it feels way better. I'm sorry you had an emergency one, I did with my first and it was terrifying! The pain will get better, but for me at least, my incision site has always been a touch sensitive.

I am 11 days pp and still in a lot of pain on my right side. Same as you, incision looks great and no signs of infection but it is a ripping pain on the right when I walk. I am not scheduled to see by OB until next week so I am hoping to feel better soon. I also have a huge bruise in my pelvic bone .... Now that I can finally see it again!!

It was a couple weeks for me. I wore the same pair of loose fitting yoga pants for about 12 days straight, haha. And I wore maternity pants up until maybe 3m pp; I just couldn't stand regular pants against that area any sooner.

It will get better! If you want to stop the Perc, just make sure to stay on top of the Motrin every six hours. And stick some Tylenol in there if Motrin isn't cutting it; you can alternate the two every three hours.

Someone asked a similar question yesterday, so I am just going to repost what I said to her:

I am three weeks postpartum. I was in a lot of pain for about a week, and a moderate amount of pain for another week. For the past week, I have still been experiencing a bit of discomfort, but not a lot of serious pain unless I move the wrong way or sneeze or something similar. I definitely still need to take ibuprofen at least twice a day or the pain worsens.
  • Thanks guys, I'm going to try with just the Tylenol now, I'm hoping this next week it starts feeling better, I'm just giving in to the sweatpants.

  • I'm almost 4 weeks out and am still pretty tender but only on the right side. The actual incision isn't painful but probably about where my right ovary is. I occasionally get a sharp pinprick style pain in that area as well. It's not painful enough for percocets or even ibuprofen but it is awful tender at times (especially when DS1 wants to hug me .... OUCH!).

I'm still rocking the maternity jeans, yoga pants and maxi dresses.

  • I felt no pain after a couple of weeks, but I stayed in sweats for a while because they didn't rub against the scar. Even though it doesn't hurt it's still sensitive and I don't like it when my jeans rub it.

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.
