**NCC**

Tell me about going med-free with pit, pretty please!  Big Smile  I'm facing doing this this week and while my OB told me it is doable but will be harder, I'd love some tips/tricks of someone who has BTDT if you don't mind!

ETA: Any lurky-loos who have gone med free with pit, feel free to chime in too!!!

Re: **NCC**

  • I definitely can't help! As soon as they said pit (not progressing fast enough and there was meconium in the fluid when my water broke) i said epi please. You are a brave woman.

Did you talk to your doula about your options?

  • Thanks KDG for asking, and NCC for answering! I'm in the same boat, looking at an induction at 39w2d for medical reasons, and really anxious about it. This is what prompted us to hire a doula, to have someone who knew WTH was going on if things went more quickly, and who could keep both DH and I centered. Our Doula actually teaches the Bradley class, so I'm glad to hear it helped you.

  • Thanks!  We took med-free centered birth classes for 8 weeks and I have a doula so I'm hoping that'll help.

Did they keep turning the pit up even with the good contractions you were having?  Did they ever turn it off to see if your body would keep going on it's own?

  • I don't have any experience or tips really but just wanted to say it is doable! My mom had all three of us, two over eight pounds and one nine and a half, natural after being induced past 40 weeks each time. She never had a natural labor pain but made it through all three with no pain meds. She is my motivation in aiming for a completely natural birth, it is possible!:D haha

Oh, I'm not saying there can't be game changers (like meconium, decels, etc), but I feel like so much of this process, hell even GETTING HERE, has been rough and taken away from me, I'll be damned if I'm gonna roll over and take it just cause they are throwing the "p" word at me.  Stick out tongueWink

  • I am scared of trying to go med free w/pitocin. I'm interested to hear how someone did it.

Also, have you talked to your doc about membrane stripping to see if that could help start labor naturally for you before getting induced? It could help things along, maybe.

    That's on today's appt agenda.
