Anyone we mention our name to HATES it. We don't really care but I figured I'd ask some strangers opinions. It's Abner, we have yet to decide on a middle name.
I forgot the neighbors name in Bewitched was Abner and I loved that show growing up.nbsp; And wasn't the pigs name Wilbur?nbsp;nbsp; We're pretty set on it and we both despise trendy/over used names, but didn't want something uneek.nbsp; Now if only we can decide on a MN..
Yes! You're right. I was thinking of the pig in that Hey Arnold cartoon. All my childhood memories are lumped together. I knew it made me think of a pig for some reason.
I find it rather quaint and charming, but this board's tastes run in that direction. I agree with Daisy that a lot of people won't like it. I wouldn't let that stop me if I loved it, though
I like it! It is old fashioned and definitely not mainstream, but it is a good solid name and has some cute nickname options (if you like nicknames). I would go with it.

I actually kind of like it. It's not something I'd personally use, but that's what makes it awesome...it's a real, classic name that no one else is likely to use.

This is what came to mind for me, too, but like PP stated, who cares what other ppl think. Go with it if you love it!

This. It's definitely NMS though. Makes me think pretentious old man.
Exactly this. If that doesn't bother you, use it!
Sorry it hasn't received the feedback you were hoping for from your family//friends, but I'm on the train of NMS also.
I can think of absolutely nothing wrong with Abner. It's a fine name!!
