food pouches

How did you all teach your baby to eat from the food pouches? I would love to have LO do it, especially since I have some runny Plum MashUps smoothies in pouches that I have to cup-feed him (too runny for a spoon). But he just makes a mess, nothing gets in his mouth!

For the first little bit, I held them while Charlotte slurped. Then I showed her how to hold it on the top, not the bottom. That is the key! If they hold the bottom, they will squeeze it and make a mess. Holding the top corners, near the spout, they can just slurp.

Good luck! Pouches are great once LO gets the hang of it. Yesterday, we needed to go downtown during her breakfast. She ate her fruit and rice cake while we stopped at a coffee shop and then slurped her pouch while in her stroller walking around.

Jacqueline learned how to use a straw sippy and when I bought the food pouches I also bought the straw attachments. I screw one on and then give it to her. She refuses to hold the corners up top so I just watch her because she likes to flip them upside down and try to chew the bottom.

We use them for travel mostly, but for quick dinners and stuff at home when I forget to take something out when she can't have what we are having.
