BCPs and Fattymcfattypants

Have any of you ladies ever thought that birth control made you gain or hold weight? My weight shot up within a month of starting BCPs. I started them at 6 months PP and I am up 20 lbs since then. I am still very much planning on getting my tubes tied but if the birth control had nothing to do
With it, I will be seriously blah if I continue to gain after I am off of it.

  • I went on the pill in April after I had Mirena pulled out, but haven't gained weight mostly because I've been calorie counting and exercising. If I was not doing these things, I'm sure I would have gained, mostly because I'm only down 5 lbs in 2 months. It's hard to say if it's B related or not. I just really love eating lol. Is your diet and activity level different from before you started it? Are you on any other meds that could be causing it?

Any Doctor will tell you that at max it should only make you gain like 10 lbs. I was put on BCP's when I was 11 due to ovarian cysts, it was only supposed to be for a few months to get rid of the cyst but every time they took me off of the pill I would get another huge cyst. So my doctor just kept me on the pill indefinitely since I had already had a cyst removed that could've damaged my tubes and ovaries. But, after being on the pill I swear I gained like 40 lbs in the first year and I honestly have never really been able to take it off, I've just gained weight ever since. I was on the pill for like 11 years before I started TTC and definitely gained a decent amount of weight. So I definitely think it makes a difference but my doctor has blown me off every time I've said that.
