Convertible car seat w/ stroller frame?

Does anybody know if I could use a convertible car seat with a stroller frame, specifically Graco SnugRider?

Buying an infant car seat and then another one down the road seems like such a waste to me, but I also really like the idea of a quick stroller frame for quick outings.

Convertible carseats are huge, heavy, bulky, and do not snap into bases like infant seats, so no, as far as I know, there is no way to use a convertible with a stroller frame. Either use the infant seat and snap into a stroller, or use the convertible seat and get a stroller that works on its own.

  • i don't get it...  what would be quick about taking a convertible carseat out of the car?

I too did struggle with the idea of buying an infant carrier, but I did it and I do not regret it.  Its so helpful being able to strap the baby in the seat in the house so you knwo hes safe and and then just click him into the car (especially in the winter here).  I'm blessed with a small baby, so I think he'll be in his infant carrier for awhile, but at the same time, I can choose to leave it in the car when I find it too heavy to carry around.

    good luck with your research.

FTM, I didn't realize convertible car seats were difficult to get in/out of the car.

Alright, guess I'll suck it up and get both. Thanks!

The only one that I know that works, is a Combi Cocorro, with a combi flash stroller.
  • We got a convertible car seat from the beginning and used either a Moby wrap or our stroller, a City Mini, when we were out and about with him. It was not a big deal, and I don't regret our decision to skip the infant seat.
  • The coccoro is light weight so it would be a good option but it won't last as long as most convertibles so you'll still end up replacing it but not as soon as an infant carrier.

Most convertibles weigh around 25 lbs or so and have to be strapped in each time you put it back in the car so definitely not ideal for quick in and outs although the chicco nextfit is super easy to install.

FWIW I also skipped the infant seat and just carried DD when we got out. If we went out to eat it was usually with other people and they wanted to hold her anyway b

  • The Orbit toddler car seat fits on the Orbit frame. Was great for air travel.
