Success after IF

If you were team green ...

Talk to me.

We have a boy and a girl so we have everything a set of parents could possibly have for each gender.

I told myself if we ever had a third I wanted to be surprised.  This will be our last baby and I thought it would be really fun to not know until the big day ...

BUT

I don't know if I can hold out.  I go in for another cervix check on Wednesday and I know if I ask she'll take a peak down south for me (I'll be 16w1d so they should probably be able to tell).

If you found out with one kid, but not another or if you were team green for your first or all of your kids what was it like finding out in the delivery room?

Re: If you were team green ...

  • I was never team green, but if we were to have another I think I would be. Since i am not a candidate for a VBAC I think it would be fun to have something to look forward to in the OR.

  • We were team green! I loved it!! DH is a planner and not as on board, but eventually he gave up. I always thought I wanted to know, but given how much IF took away from me related to the fun and surprised of pregnancy, I wanted a gender surprise. It was awesome! I have absolutely no regrets.

When she came out in the tub, the midwife put her right to my chest. I asked, "boy or girl?", she goes, "find out for yourself!". So I took a peek....team pink!

I would love to be surprised with a future pregnancy, but DH really wants to know...we will see. I say do it!!

We were team green for DS.  I always pictured waiting to find out, since I was young, but it took a lot to convince DH to remain team green.  After going through it, I think he'd want to do the same for any future kids.  It's so uncommon now that it just made it all more exciting!  And it drove my ILs INSANE!!

I was induced at 41 weeks, labored forever and ended in C-section.  All I kept thinking was "you're going to finally find out if it's a boy or a girl".  It sort of kept me going...whatever good that did!  Even the nurses were like "you don't know??  Oh, how exciting!".  It didn't matter to us what the baby was, but hearing "it's a boy" was pretty amazing.  Every u/s was tempting, but it was so worth it in the end.

We were team green with all 3.  Loved it!  It was a great thing to look forward to in the delivery room.  So exciting to share the surprise at the end!

I have wanted to be team green pretty much my whole life. My parents were team green too and DH was with me all the way. I have attended deliveries for work and I always loved a surprise baby. I did get a bit sick of only having green or yellow items for LO towards the end but I am so happy I stuck with it. At my delivery baby came out and I asked my OB what it was and he said" we font give out that kind of private information". I looked myself and told DH who was so overcome by the delivery itself that he'd forgotten we could even find out then!
  • I wasn't Team Green, but DH and I say if LO#2 is a boy and we had one of each, we would want to be surprised with our third. We are both planners, so if we are set with both boy and girl clothes/nursery gear then why not play the Team Green game with #3!

  • I was TG with my first. We were going to be TG for our 2nd, but DH changed his mind on the way to the a/s. I told him I wanted to be TG again for this baby.

When I found out my second was a son I began to fret about how I would be able to get a daughter next and I feel like I didn't enjoy the second half of my pregnancy as much as I should have. So I insisted on TG this time. I want to enjoy the whole pregnancy and this baby rather than fretting over how we will need to pursue adoption next to get a daughter.

It is so nice to find out at the end of the pregnancy IMO when you get to hold the baby right away. If I had one of each I would definitely go for TG!
