Trouble TTC

BFN...moving on to IUI

Hi ladies. Well, I tested this morning (I'm on CD2611DPO) because I am leaving for Florida tomorrow morning and wanted to be prepared of the result before I left. Well, as I expected from my symptoms in the past 3 days it was a BFFN. My RE said if this cycle was a bust then he would switch me from Clomid to Femera and we would also incorporate IUI. So, looks like that will be our plan from here on out. I'm happy we have a plan and I'm glad that I found a dr who I feel cares more, but I still can't help but feel broken, like quality control should have rejected me when I came off the assembly line.  How do you ladies get past this feeling? I'm hoping I can enjoy some time poolside while I'm in Florida and AF doesn't bring too much luggage with her to make that time uncomfortable.

Thanks for listening.

Re: BFN...moving on to IUI

  • I'm sorry about the BFN. That sucks. I'm glad you have a plan for next cycle.

I know that feeling all to well and the thing that always helps me is time and alcohol. :)

I always feel a little better a few days after AF leaves. I try to do something for myself during those tough days to take my mind off of it, whether it be running, going out somewhere with DH, etc.

I hope your day gets better and you have fun in Florida!

  • I'm so sorry! I know the disappointment. I've been feeling the same way. Last night I kept saying what should we do to help ourselves feel better. So my DH kept telling me jokes and playing old songs that were fun and we just sort of goofed off last night. But as she was saying above, anything you can do to take your mind off of it. A coping skill is something that's good for you, good for others, and helps you feel better. I think sitting poolside will be a good way to relax. Maybe you want to take some Tylenol or Midol with you so your trip isn't ruined by AF. Hang in there and safe travels!
  • I'm so sorry about the BFN. They are the worst. I usually take the time I need to sulk and feel sad. After I feel ready to move on, I'll go for a run, eat some chocolate, drink some wine, anything I can do to make myself feel better. The one good thing about cycling is that by the time my pity party is ending I'm already back for monitoring for the new cycle.

I hope your time in sunny Florida provides a welcomed distraction. Hang in there, friend!

I'm sorry about your BFN.  Every cycle I think I'm expecting the BFN and then when I see it, I feel crushed.  Silver lining - it means you've still got hope!  Also, congratulations on finding a new doctor and having a plan!

I ditto the PP - alcohol.  Plus, I get drunk quicker during AF.  On really rough cycles, DH and I take a quick weekend trip somewhere and that totally takes my mind off of it because I think it's good that we're doing that while we still can.  I hope going to FL helps take your mind off things and you have a great trip!

  • I'm so sorry!  Hopefully, your vacation will help keep your mind off IF for awhile.  For me, I have to have my initial cry session, but then there is nothing better than thinking and doing anything else!  I find myself trying to fill every minute with something fun following each month's disappointment.  I hope this vacation is just what you need!

Sorry for the BFN. Hopefully a little vacay time is just what you need. It's important to remember, I think, that we are more than just the sum of our parts.

  • I'm sorry about the BFN, but I hope IUI does the trick for you.

I've had those moments where I've felt like I must be broken (I mean people get KTFU without even trying, WTF is wrong with me!), but I try not to dwell on those feelings.  IF sucks, but I have come to terms with the fact that it is part of me and my life.

     Have fun in Florida!
