Call a Dr or no? Possible TMI

So I am working today (supposed to be a 16 hour shift) and around 7am every time I would stand up it feels like I 'gush' fluid but its not a lot when I check.  But it is EVERY time I stand up and its very painful (a LOT of down there pressure). I feel like DS3 is lower than normal and I occasionally have felt nauseous and light-headed.  I really don't want to have to call someone else in but I'm a bit concerned.  LO hasn't really moved as much this am as he normally does.  I don't feel like I am having BH but then again I really never felt the contractions or BH with the first two (I have a high pain tolerance).

And ladies before you start saying 'its your body only you can decide'  I know this... and if my pain becomes unbearable I fully intend to walk upstairs to L&D or if my fluid feels like its more than has been.  I'm just trying to see if I'm being paranoid or if I should call the OB to find out.  I hate leaving work early for fear of making someone mad or upset that its short notice.

  • I think if you have to ask whether you should call, then you probably should. That's what our OBs are there for. Better to be safe!

  • Personally, I would call. It could all be normal things, or it could be something that needs to be checked out. It's so hard to say. Your doctor can tell you if you should come in right away or not. Leaving work will suck, but you and your baby's health has to come first. Good luck!

  • If all it takes is a walk up stairs, just do it. The test to see if its amniotic fluid doesn't take long, an better safe than sorry!

  • It's a matter of safety for you and baby and others around you too.... I would go to doctor.

  • I would definitely call. Or heck just call upstairs to l and d and ask them.
  • Thanks ladies.  I'm on the phone with the on call nurse now.
