Cloth Diapering

am I the only one?

When it's diaper laundry day, I definitely have no problem reaching in the wet bag and going through every diaper to make sure tabs are fastened, inserts are pulled out of the pockets, etc.  Am I the only crazy person to do this?  I read a lot "I just dump the whole bag in so I don't have to touch the gross diapers"...it really doesn't bother me :-/

I don't know...just thinking out loud :)

  • Ha. I'm in the other camp of dumping the whole bag in. I don't need to have anything fastened, and I pull liners from pockets when I put them in the pail in the first place.

  • Yeah... I fasten tabs before I throw them in the pail, and pull liners too.  But it doesn't bother me to grab diapers out of the wetbag from daycare.  I work in a hospital - there could be worse things on me than baby pee.  And I keep hand sanitizer on the changing table, so no biggie.
  • Okay, good.  I thought I might be a weirdo for grabbing the dipes from the bag. lol

We try to get everything "wash ready" before putting them in the pail but it doesn't happen 100% of the time.  I blame my compulsive need to check every dipe on my crazy control-freak brain. lol

  • I doesn't bother me either. I don't worry about tabs though. So, now what I'll do is go through after the prewash and make sure all the inserts have been agitated out.

  • I have no problem going through it, in fact that's what I used to do until I saw somebody comment on here that they take out the inserts before putting it in the wetbag. I couldn't believe I never thought of it before, so that's what we do now at home. Daycare doesn't though, so I have to go through their little wetbag at the end of the day, but I don't care. I take the inserts out and put the 2 pieces in our large wetbag, and dump it all in on laundry day. I don't have to worry about laundry tabs because we only have snaps.

We do this, but if I had to go through them it wouldn't bother me.

  • I separate the inserts right away at home. But I have no problem going through the daycare wetbag to take them out when doing laundry.

  • I'm definitely in the dump-it-in camp. I pull liners when I change a diaper because I don't want to have to go digging through ginormous ebf poos later!
  • I take the inserts out before I put them in the diaper pail so I really have no need to pick the dirty diapers out one by one when its time to wash. I just dump 'em in!

My DH SAHs and agreed to CD on the condition that he could just toss the diapers as if they were disposables, so I unstuff on laundry day. It doesn't bother me; on the contrary, I get some kind of sick pleasure out of seeing how wet and or poopy his diapers were, since I wasn't around to see them in real time.

  • For a little while I was unstuffing as I went and dumping them in, but DH was careless with some laundry tabs and I now have fuzzy applecheeks :( Now I still fasten tabs and remove liners before putting them in the bag, but I go through them one by one before washing to check the aplix ones and I just unstuff while doing that.

  • After the time a sposie made it into my washer but was caught before it exploded, I go through all the diapers as I put them into the was just to make sure nothing else that is not washable makes it in.

Then again I have had no problem with using my bare hands to hand rinse a particularly stinky poopy diaper so I wouldnt have to keep smelling it. Just dont ask me to hand rinse someone elses babys poopy diaper.

  • We almost always unstuff and do up the laundry tabs when throwing stuff in the pail, but I still usually check through them when I put them in the washer. Doesn't bother me at all. DH is the opposite and always just dumps.
