What shoes do you wear?

I obviously have not bought workout shoes in a long while, because I don't remember them costing this much. What shoe do you wear to work out, run, cross train?

I've worn the Aisics 2100 series for YEARS. I usually buy older versions to save money.

I suggest going to get fitted at a running store.  Everyone's feet and running gait are different (width, arch, support, .  What works well for one person could potentially cause a running injury in another person.

That being said, I prefer the Asics GT series as well.  I just wish I didn't go through them every 6 months! Luckily, buying the older models saves me some serious cash.

  • <3 me some Brooks!  You should get fitted for a pair at a running store first and see which models work for you.  My top brands are Brooks, Asics and Mizuno.

  • Getting fitted at a store is a good idea especially if it's been awhile. DH was a personal trainer when we met and that's when I learned about Nike Frees. He started using them in Iraq when he was deployed and never buys anything else. He bought me my first pair and I fell in love. It doesn't feel like you're really wearing any kind of shoe! They are so lightweight and I actually saw them in the most recent Shape magazine listed for some of the best. I use the Nike Fit TR :)

  • I got fitted a few months ago when I decided to take the running thing seriously.  I ended up with a pair of Brooks Adrenaline (I think that is the style) and love!  I tried out several brands/styles.  The asics everyone loves didn't work for me since my feet were too wide across the midfoot area (lasting effects of pregnancy apparently...buying shoes, any shoes, has been a PITA post-pregnancy (and we're now two years post) and my huge shoe collection (I have  DSW addiction) started collecting dust.

  • I run long distance and use Hokas. Super cushioned and comfy. Recovery time is much quicker in Hokas, for me, compared to other shoes I've used.

  • I swear by Asics..... I ran in Nike for years, and once I was fitted for Asics I never went back.

    Agree with this.  Completely.

I love Nike Motos, but I have long, narrow feet and tend to under-pronate.  Because of my foot/gait, I've also been really successful with the Vibrams.  They're my favorite to run in because they don't cause any additional stress on my body - no hip/knee/shin/ankle/back pain.
