I know J isn't as fast as some of the other kids here on the board, but he can count to 10 now. He's answering the questions asked on his shows with fair regularity now. He has by far mastered all his colors (except grey... calls it brown, but gets every other one right, all the time) and is being a great big brother, giving kisses, handing him toys (at almost 4 months, he's not quite ready to full on play with him), and he just hit the 2 1/2 year mark yesterday.
@Coltsdad - Jonny can't count very well. He regularly gets the order of 1-10 all mixed up. But man - that kid knows his ABC's like there is no tomorrow and points out letters all the time in the most random places. Maybe he'll be a writer and suck at math when he grows up, haha.
Jonny is obsessed with wheels right now. It just cracks me up. We'll be driving somewhere and he'll say, "Big yellow bus!" and then a long pause..."It has BIG YELLOW WHEELS." Any mode of transportation he sees he has to comment/mention/point out how many wheels it has and what color they are.
Benny has started to stand unassisted for about 5 seconds at a time! He also has decided he's not going to take crap from his older brother anymore. Anytime Jonny yells at him, "no no Benny, no touch Jonny's trains/cars/toy" and tried to take it from him Benny now just turns and yells/screeches back in Jonny's face. It's quite entertaining most of the time.
This morning on the ride into daycare, B responded to something by saying, "I don't do that either." He knew the word either and used it correctly. It was one of those "Wow he's really growing up" moments for me.
Oh, and for numbers - B knows them all but counting to five last night went a little something like, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, .... 5"
That's awesome that he has all his colors! Jack knows most of his colors, but gets purple and pink confused, or forgets their name. We don't have many of those colors around the house though.
He can count up to 20, but gets some of the teens mixed up, and sings his ABCs, but skips one or two because he sings them so fast! lol He is really good at identifying letters and some numbers though.
I am mostly proud of him trying to overcome his social anxiety. The severity of it comes and goes, but it is always there. We went to our first gymnastics class today and he did SO well. Other kids cried and he didn't, he did everything the teacher asked him to, it was great! I've also been worried that he might be a bit behind in physical ability, but the teacher was impressed with his tumbling, jumping, and swinging abilities. I was very proud of him.
Nate is putting together 24 piece puzzles now with no help! He is also starting to speak in sentences more often and sometimes we even understand what he is saying! : He knows his colors too and all his letters! The counting is just funny because he says random numbers in a random order.
Caleb is a rolling maniac. I put him down on a blanket and came back to find him across the room within a few minutes. Lord help me! They are both mobile!
This isn't going to impress anyone, but Avery is finally speaking in full sentences. Sometimes I think she's a tiny teenager with how she responds to things and the tone that she uses. The other day I said something like "wouldn't you rather go to the park than stay home and watch Caillou?" and she said "I guess so..." Pretty soon she's going to start rolling her eyes at me. She's also getting really good at riding her balance bike.
Just this week, he mastered 24 piece puzzles. It's fun to watch him accomplish something new!
His newest phrase is, "Keep calm and carry on." Anytime I would see him get frustrated and about to throw a fit, I'd tell him to take a deep breath and then "Keep calm and carry on." Now he mutters it to himself and takes these huge exaggerated breaths whenever he's frustrated about something. It's hilarious...and it works!

Most recently I have been impressed with his thoughtfulness. He regularly will say things like, "Thank you for my new shoes, Mommy! I like them so much!" He's had the shoes for a few weeks, but whenever we put them on, he'll say it.
He also says, "you're welcome" now.
And this one really gets me - he asks me if I like things & even if DD likes things- He'll say something like, "I like flowers. They are so lovely. Do you like flowers, Mommy?"
Oh & he can spell his name off the top of his head!
Hazel has an alphabet puzzle that we don't really do that often because she gets bored with it and throws the pieces around, so it's been awhile since I pulled it off the shelf. As she was doing the puzzle she was telling me the letters and their sounds and I was telling her a word that starts with the letter. We got to R and I couldn't think of anything so I just didn't say a word and she goes "like roller skates"! I almost effing died right there. Then she picks up T and says "like teeth" and smiled really big! She went on to come up with words for most of the letters she had left. I was so shocked, I had no idea she could associate letters, sounds and words like that.

I am impressed as well. We are also still working on new words. He has a few sentences. The one I love is whenever he sees someone(me, DH, the ILs) he will say "How are you?". It is so cute. He can't really answer when he is asked the same but it is cute to hear him say it.
Wow, T has trouble counting, choosing letters and still confuses mist color names
But he impresses me daily when he uses new phrases correctly. Yesterday I was dropping the kids off at MIL's house and he told me 'have a good day mama. Drive safe!' He also just learned a few days ago how to put his sneakers on himself! (We've been trying for a long while!!!)
Nora is swimming. For real. It's crazytown. Underwater, kicking, reaching, going many yards at a time. I am flabbergasted. She has been in lessons since she was 5 months old, and has always been comfortable in the water, but this came out of nowhere!
This isn't going to impress anyone, but Avery is finally speaking in full sentences.
I'm impressed, but mine is still building lists of nouns and verbs vs actual sentences, for the most part.
Same here!
DS learned at least half a dozen new words on vacation, so I'm counting that as a huge win! He's also been babbling like crazy and really trying to communicate, so that's cool.
The other day, he was watching the movie "Born Free" (one of his all-time faves) and he was like narrating it for me, so funny! He said "drink" when the lion cub knocked over a glass of water, "outside" when the lion went outside, "eat" when the lions ate, and "table" when the lions jumped up on the table. It was really cute!
Almost forgot...DS also learned how to give noogies (my doing, I think ), so now he gives me noogies or grabs my hand and makes me give him noogies. So funny!

Yay for speech growth!! We've been hearing up to 5 word phrases! Generally it's in the midst of random jargoning though. I was listening to his preschool class talk last week (he goes twice a week and his class is all boys!) and realized just how far behind he really is in speech. Hope both our kids eventually catch up!

I have a huuuuge brag from today!

Some good stuff here! We have lots of smarty pants Dec LOs! :-)
C can say the Pledge of Allegiance entirely by himself. He likes to "sing" it to himself as a bedtime song, ha ha.
But he impresses me daily when he uses new phrases correctly. Yesterday I was dropping the kids off at MIL's house and he told me 'have a good day mama. Drive safe!' He also just learned a few days ago how to put his sneakers on himself! (We've been trying for a long while!!!)
Recently Griff has started saying "I'm sorry" and "thank you" and "you're welcome" in the right context, without me having to remind him first.
Bishop took his first real steps a few weeks ago but nothing since. We're working on it though =D.
