Breastfeeding

Pumping to nursing question

My son is three weeks old and is tongue tied. We go see an ENT on July 17th and  then will make an appointment to get it clipped. I SO badly want to EBF but im wondering if being bottle fed (breast milk and formula) for three weeks its too late or if it is ever too late to start nursing? Im hoping that once we have the procedure done he will latch. I had two different LCs work with me while in the hospital and it just never happened. I feel defeated and am just hoping we can somehow get the hang of this!

Re: Pumping to nursing question

  • My LO had a bad case of jaundice when she was in the hospital and never latched. Long story short I pumped and bottle fed for 6 LONG months. On a whim I tried latching her. We have now been EBF for over a month and she refuses all bottles!! It is possible!!!

  • I am so happy to tell you that I have had to EP since my milk came in because my LO absolutely REFUSED to latch. I couldn't pump enough to satisfy her and we were supplementing with about 9-12 ounces of formula per day.  This week she decided out of the blue that she wants to nurse, and has been doing just fine without formula or bottles at all!  There's hope!  Party!!!
