I have decided to go ahead and get the slingshot flying monkeys I listed above. Its above the price range... but that's ok. what's another $20.... (this is getting expensive!)... but the seller is on vacation for 2 weeks! ugh.

Good thing I still have a month till his party!

It's etsy - they always list "1" as the item number, because the seller makes them. So she doesn't have them piled up ready to go. You contact her with the number you want and she makes as many as you need.

I did a sock monkey theme in March. I found some gummy banana candies at the bulk store and tied a handful up in cellophane with a piece of red and white ribbon. that definitely did not break the bank. You could even do REAL bananas with a little "thank you" note written on the peel, even the babies can eat those, not expensive, and parents might appreciate that you're not sugaring the kids up or sending home the traditional plastic "goody bag" type things. I also got banana scented roll on bath paint from Avon for about 99? each. I had a table set up with crayons and a free sock monkey coloring page that I found on Pinterest, and the pieces cut out to assemble their own sock monkey "hand puppet" with a paper lunch sack from Pinterest. I didn't do anything expensive.
