August 2012 Moms

What is up with my kid?

He's been replaced by some demon baby. He woke up at 5am this morning, he's done nothing but cried, screamed, and threw food in the floor. He threw a massive tantrum because I removed him from the dog water, that consisted of throwing himself hard into the kitchen floor and then throwing up from crying so hard. Then he fought me to take his morning nap, more screaming, slept for 10 minutes. I have him in the ergo now, hoping he'll go back to sleep, but I doubt it. He's rubbing his eyes violently and crying. I see the rest of the day going so well. [Sarcasm]

Eta: he's had Motrin and a teething tablet. No change.

  • This is Hughitt this morning too! What is up with them today? I took a nickel from him just as it was about to go in his mouth and you would have thought I slapped him across the face with how hard he screamed. I JUST got the grumpy butt to sleep for his morning nap, which he usually takes at 9:30. Hopefully he wakes up in a better mood!

  • What is UP with these trantrums?! I don't remember L having them this young.....B threw the biggest (and funniest) fit I have ever seen yesterday because L moved a sword just out of his reach. It was the end of his world.

  • Oh man, that does not sound like a good time! I don't know what is going on obviously, but letting Carson splash in the bath or a bucket of water distracts him from almost every fit!

  • A was that way this morning too. He had a slight fever, and motrin did the trick in calming him down (and bringing down his fever). I see you have tried that, so I don't know what to recommend. Hopefully he chills out soon for you.

  • Do you have a vacuum?  Ergo+vacuum knocks DS out every time.  At the very least his screams will be drowned out ;-)

I have a white noise app on my phone that I'm playing. I feel like I have a colicy newborn. I'm boping around the house with all the lights off, playing loud white noise.

H got called into work for a few hours this morning. Now would be a really good time to come home.

  • Seriously! My kid was replaced by a troll baby sometime in the middle of last night.

    Is it the super moon?

I have one nerve left.  And it's being stomped on.

Actually, I think it is the supermoon tonight.

I'm using this as the excuse.

Eta: maybe they're all turning into werewolves?

  • This was Charlotte Monday-Thursday of this week.  I think it was a combo of teeth and being grouchy that we left her over the weekend.

It's getting better, though!  You will survive this day!  :o

  • He finally fell asleep. After being up for almost 6 hours. Holy crap.

Exactly! Every time Cecilia has a meltdown, I throw her in the duck tub with a few rubber ducks to chew on and all is right in the world again.

  • Ds has been having a return of a witching hour all week when I got home. From 5:30 until bedtime at 7 he was a terror. He was good yesterday so fingers crossed it was a week long thing and its finished!
  • I read this thread earlier in the morning and was like, "oh my DS is so good today, I feel bad for those moms."

Well that was short lived. Commence micro nap and screaming fit. I'm going to have a screaming fit in a minute. Wtf.
