Weight gain check in

mobile: Weight gain check in

If you care to share, what has your weight gain been like so far?

I'm almost 29w, and have gained 20lbs. This is my third, and this is just a little less than my last pregnancy (35 total there) and a lot less than first pregnancy (50 total, I was less wise on eating for that one!).

Re: Weight gain check in

  • I started at 108lbs, at 26w I'm 135lbs = 27lb gain

i was a little concerned because it came on really quickly but I stopped gaining in the last month or so. I think it's evening out.  I'm a FTM

  • FTM and I weighed 125 before pregnancy and now I weigh 155. So 30 pounds. I was worried about my gain at first, but I feel like I look great...most days. Lol.

  • Why, where is there a check in? We're pregnant only have a couple more months to go and we're expected to gain. I hate the obsession of weight gain.

Good job exercising your right not to answer Wink

I agree we should all gain. I'm overweight and don't feel in any way I should ignore the scale, and it's been valuable to me to keep it in check.  Some who have struggled with an eating disorder in the past, for example, could have major issues with looking at it very closely which is quite understandable.

I'm ashamed at how much I've gained. I have some pretty awful eating habits. =[
  • I started about 165ish and weighed myself yesterday at 185lbs. I am 27 weeks pregnant as of yesterday so I'll take the 20lbs, even though I wasn't small to begin with.

  • I have gained 20 pounds and am 27 weeks . If I gain a pound a week for the next 13 weeks I'm happy and so is my dr . This is my 2nd pregnancy I gained almost 50 with my first .

  • I started at 109 I am now 123 at 26wks. So that's a 14 lb gain. It is a lot to me.
  • 26 w, 13 lbs. dr suggested only to gain 20 this pregnancy...we might be surpassing that! FTM here. I just don't want to gain alot of excess and struggle to lose it. Not stressed about it though bc I have healthy eating habits and have been tracking calories.
  • I was 128 to start 4 lb over my ww lifetime weight and was 144 on Monday, so 16 lbs. dreading the rapid gains this trimester. However, I figure if I keep up with healthy eating habits it'll all be okay.

Side note, I was as a baby shower last night where every woman over 50 in the room seemed impossibly thin, the two moms I was with said they are back to/below PP weight, but can't get rid of the muffin top. I laughed at myself for even being worried about weight gain, plenty of life left to enjoy so I decided to try to worry less about weight and just focus on eating healthy. The fact that chocolate anything gives me wicked heartburn helps, too!
  • It took a while but at my last OB appointment I was up around 14 lbs. I'll be 27 weeks tomorrow. My Dr. only wants me to gain between 25-35 lbs.

There actually is a healthy range of weight gain and some women struggle to stay within it.  It's really great for you that you don't have that problem.  Heckling people who do is a real b* move.

  • Hi, I am 28 weeks 2 days and up 25 lbs since my first visit! Doctor told me "You are a little on the high side, and just remember the goal is 35 pounds, after that the extra weight is yours to keep". Gee...thanks doc.

  • I am up 12 lbs.  My goal is 15-25 lbs.  I'm feeling hopeful that I will do it.  With M I put on 50 lbs and most of it was at the end so I need to stay careful.

This!! I mean, really!? What is wrong with people like you?? It was a "share if you want" request and weight gain, either too much or too little, can have serious effects on you and your child. Maybe you should try learning about it.

that would be me! i was struggling earlier in the pregnancy but now am happy that connor is healthy and trying not to focus on the gain. i eat really healthy with a few splurges thrown in so i'm not too worried. i started out at 113 and have gained 22 pounds at 28 weeks.

  • FTM, I started at 163 (heaviest weight ever, thanks holiday season 2012) and yesterday at the OB I weighed in at 186, so up 23 lbs. It's more than I thought I would have gained at this point, especially since the last 13 lbs was in the last 5 weeks, but my appetite has readily increased as well. I feel like most of the weight is in my belly at this point, so I'm ok with this.

     edit: 26 weeks, btw

  • I started at 115, now am 132 so 17lb gain at 26w5d. I gained 70lbs my first pregnancy so I'm feeling good. I've been eating a lot healthier, but I also had HG at the beginning so that offset the gain as well (no bueno). Hoping to keep to a healthy diet/exercise routine for third tri to avoid the excessive gain.

  • 17lb gain so far, but I was at plus 2 for a long time due to ms, and my running hobby, so the weight gain seems sudden to me. My midwives have been happy, so I will not stress over any gains. This is pregnancy 6, baby number 5.

With baby 1, I lost 20 before gaining, and was at plus 11 when I delivered. That was an odd one, to weigh less after delivery than before pregnancy, but still didn't fit prepreg pants. Darn hips! 2 arrived early, and 3 and 4 were more typical gains.

As of my last appt 3 weeks ago, I was still -1 from pp weight.  I have an appt on Thursday this week, and I anticipate some weight gain.  I am about 60 lbs. overweight to begin with, so I'm not concerned about the lack of weight gain and my Dr. hasn't even mentioned it.  I've been eating appropriately and baby has been right on track at all check-ups.

That is why people are free to pick and choose which threads they participate in.  Lots of people have topics that they need to stay away from.  It doesn't mean that no one else should be aloud to talk about them.   For example there are women in the world who experience chronic psychosomatic pelvic pain as a result of sexual trauma and abuse.  I don't run around putting down women who start threads about pregnancy related pelvic pain for fear that some of these women will participate in an unhealthy fashion.

  • I'm 29 weeks at my 28week appt the nurse weight me and tha scale said I had gained 10 lbs since my 24 week check up. I knew I was retaining water but it seemed a little crazy so I asked if we could double check on a different scale since my scale at home has been within 2 lbs of the dr's and it seemed like I gained 4 extra lbs in a day. Once weighed on a different scale I was only up 5 more lbs. point of story sometimes it pays off to keep track on your own as well. At 29 weeks I am up to 136 lbs up 16 lbs from my prepregnancy weight and right on track for 2530 lb overall gain.
  • FTM here. I'm 28w and am up 11 lbs. My prepreg weight was 118, but lost weight the first trimester due to ACL and meniscus injury which made me lose weight in the form of muscle mass. Also, my baby craves fresh produce, so been eating healthier. I'm 129 lbs now. if I'm like my mom, I'll blow up super huge right towards the end!
