toddler formula?

I wanted to see what you guys were doing.  I am still giving DD toddler formula at night before bed. I give her one 9 oz bottle.  Tonight she drank two 9 oz bottles of toddler formula!! I am worried that she must not be getting enough nutrients to be so starving that she is drinking that much formula.  I don't get it!? For example, for breakfast today she had pancakes and milk, lunch was mac and cheese, green beans, applesauce, and milk, her snack was graham crackers and milk, her dinner was grilled chicken, mashed potatoes, brocolini and edamame.  How cans he still be hungry?? Any ideas?  Is it okay to still be giving formula? I wanted to get rid of bottles by now!

Re: toddler formula?

  • I'm not giving my LO formula, we stopped at 12 months. Did you doctor require toddler formula?  If you want, I start putting the formula in a sippy cup. We cut the bottle out at 13 months old.

Sounds like your DD is going through a growth spurt. Some days my LO will eat everything under the sun and then some days hardly anything. I blame not eating on her teeth bothering her.

  • I was advised by my doctor to switch to whole milk at 12 months.  My daughter has been drinking whole milk with a no spill sippy cup as she figured she could turn the regular sippy cups upside down and play with her milk!  I would say she drinks about 18 - 24oz. of milk a day.  One sippy cup in the morning, one for lunch and sometimes one for dinner.  I would get rid of the formula and it looks as if she is eating just fine.  It could just be out of habit that she drinks so much at night.  Definitely, switch to a sippy cup though!  I use the nuby no spill sippy cups and the she uses the straw version of the nuby and munchkin cups.
