I was so not happy to get a summons for Superior Court Jury Duty in the mail today. What makes it worse is that it's at the same time as our anatomy u/s and family trip to the beach! Hoping I can get out of this one ...
Hate the bad timing and all. I have never been summoned but I have always wanted to- I love the judicial process, though I never wanted to go into law. I am 31 and have never been summoned. My husband got summoned last year while he was deployed. So, one call and he was off the hook.
Oh that's the worst. I dread getting that postcard. What do you get like $1 a day or something stupid? Ugh.

I got a summons when ds was just a few months old. I was able to get out of it. I wish it would have came 6 months earlier while I was still pregnant. I find the process interesting and would have loved serving on a jury, but being a sahm who was ebfing at the time it was just bad timing.
In my early 20's I received a summons while I was in the midst of a move to a new apartment and completely forgot about it. I found the card again long after I was expected to respond to it. I called the courthouse and explained my stupidity and, fortunately, got a call back the next day telling me not to worry about it! No fines, no warrants, no headache. I was terrified I was going to end up going to jail and being utterly embarrassed, all over missed jury duty.
I actually just did jury duty a couple weeks ago. I made a whole $9! Hooray! I was selected for a trial (in a group of 55) but did not make it to the actual jury. You may be able to get out of it if you'll be out of the state that day.
I got summoned once. It was supposed to be during a crosscountry trip to find a home in our new state. I called the clerk and they were awesome about removing me from the list.
That sucks for timing. I'm one of the weird ones that wants jury duty! I get full pay from my job, and I could use a day to sit and watch crummy TV. They have TVs at our courthouse to pass the time.
I got a jury summons too, have to go July 8th. My work pays for my time off so I'm not too unhappy about it. My only concern is sitting around all day with this tailbone pain I've been having. And can I snack when I want to? Lmao.

I don't know, but being out of town may be a legitimate reason for them to excuse you. Check on it.
