T&P please for my 5 year old doxie. He couldn't walk this morning and is going in for surgery for two herniated discs. Hoping and praying he comes out okay; we aren't sure he'll be able to walk again.
I worked at a vet clinic for quite a few years. We had a lot of Doxies come in with this same problem. We couldn't do the surgery at the clinic, so we sent them to the University of Minnesota, where they could do the surgery. Many of them came back just fine, but a few did have problems and couldn't walk. I'm not telling you this to scare you, but rather to cheer you up. For those that couldn't walk, they got this nifty cart. Every one of the owners whose dogs had to be in the cart said their dog hadn't been that happy in years. They didn't regret for one second doing the surgery even though the outcome wasn't quite what they were hoping for. The dogs with the carts got even more attention that they ever got before because let's face it, a little doxie in a wheelchair is just flipping cute!
I am sending t&p that everything will turn out fine and yours will be running before too long, but if it doesn't happen quite that way, don't give up. Consider the wheels. He'll love it!

No matter what, at least you know he will feel better after they fix his discs. I hope everything goes well. Let us know how he's feeling.
