Help! At work broken pump.

So I just pumped my first morning session and one side has barely any suction. I have an Ameda Purely Yours.I checked where the tube plugs into the machine as well as the membrane for tears. I did notice the membrane is fully deflating on that side whereas the one with the suction stays inflated. What could it be?

Can you use the working side to pump each breast separately?

Yes that is what I did the first time and will be fine for today. I guess I should just call customer service to troubleshoot the problem.

I had a similiar problem with my Ameda Purely Yours.  I was pumping and thinking that my supply was going down.  Or I was discovering that I would get a lot from one and not the other.  Well, I had a hand pump and thought I would give it a shot.  I was shocked and mad when I was getting more from the hand pump than the electric.

Turns out the pump was messed up.  My problem with sucking was that there was a small tear in the white piece that connects to the flange.  I called customer service and they were able to send me out 2 new pieces.  Apparently, they told me those are suppose to be replaced every 2-3 months.  I would also check that piece or the little caps to make sure they are put in straight and has a good seal with the white cap/tubing.  Hope this helps!

  • mine does this from time to time where the membrane deflates and wont inflate. i pop the white cap off to inflate it again then pop it back on, some times i will have to do this every 30 seconds but at least im able to pump. other times it works with no issues. i still havent figured out exactly what the problem is.

  • I have had a loss of suction a couple time and when I went to investigate I found one of the white valves sitting in the bottom of the bottle. Not sure if I bumped it when attaching the bottle or if I didnt attach the valve correctly and the weight of the milk in the valve caused it to fall. Now checking the valves is the first thing I do when I haveissues with suction.

This is exactly what happened except the valve was at the bottom of my pump bag. Thankfully I figured out halfway into my next pump.

    Thanks everyone!
