Success after IF

My arms ache

Both literally and figuratively.  I don't know what I did but a week and a half ago I developed a sharp, horrible pain in my shoulder blade, shoulder and arm.  I lost all strength in my arm and as a result I haven't been able to hold Maren for all this time.  :-(

I've been taking all sorts of drugs and did get a cortisone shot on Monday and the pain is, hopefully, starting to ease up and I feel as though some of my strength is coming back so hopefully soon I'll be able to pick her up again.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • Possibly a pinched nerve?  If the shots don't work, I'd try seeing a chiropractor.  As someone else mentioned, they can be miracle workers.

I have a severe wrist issue from my pregnancy (from using my hand to boost my big a$$ up off of chairs/toilet 24/7).  It hurts all the time and I know I should go to the MD, but they're just going to tell me to not use it and let it heal.  Problem is,  there's just no way I can go without using it.  With 3 immobile babies, I'm constantly lifting.  Hope you get relief soon.

You still need to go Luv! Maybe they could fit you with a brace or splint that will give you support while lifting. I thought I was going to hear the same thing, but mine turned out to be a really bad situation and I am having surgery in 2 weeks. You need to take good care of yourself so you can keep taking good care of those boys!

I was thinking it might be a pinched nerve so if the pain doesn't subside this coming week I'll be going in for a MRI.

Definitely get the wrist thing looked into.  My wrists are weaker from carrying babies the last six years.  But, if you have something bad going on you could end up with permanent nerve damage which you obviously don't want.

I know I need to make the appt.  It's just hard knowing that it'll take time away from my boys now that I'm working and don't see them much.  I was looking at wrist braces yesterday while shopping, so I'll do something for it soon, I promise Smile

One of the docs I saw said that I might need physical therapy at some point and my first thought was oh, heck no, that is a total time suck.  I don't have time for that in between work, the kids, the house and trying to have a life with my husband.  So, I hear you on the time issue.

I injured my thumb lifting and feeding my twins supporting their heads. I am having to wear a wrist brace for additional support. It's not going to get any easier as they get bigger also!
