Parenting after a Loss

Go away fever!!

DS spiked a high fever last night of 103.. and then, despite having given him motrin before bed, it was 103.7 this morning :(  Took him to the Ped and his ears and all look fine.. said it's most likely a viral infection and will run it's course over the next few days.. but, mannn.. I hate seeing him sick :(  His little body feels like burning coals :(

Poor kid. I hate fevers. I know that they don't really do any damage - but it's jsut an outward sign that you babe isn't feeling good and it totally sucks. I hope he feels better soon!!

My LO went through this and it was roseola (a rash will appear a few days after the fever).

You can alternate motrin and tylenol every 3 hours.

Yes, we've been alternating every 4 hours.. Occasionally it'll break and come down to 101ish, but within an hour or so it's back up over 103.  Ped did tell us not to be surprised if he breaks out in a rash in the next day or so.. just trying to keep him cooler.. but, so far no success.. I think I might go fill his baby pool and just let him splash around in there.. problem is he's so exhausted, all he wants to do is be held.. but me or DH holding him just makes him even warmer (and, us sweaty, too!!)..

Just tried walking him in the stroller.. got about 1/2 a mile from our house and had to call DH to come and drive and get me.. I forgot that at 8+ months pregnant 1/2 a mile is an exhausting walk!!! He hadn't fallen asleep, but at least he wasn't crying in the stroller.. DH is out walking him some more..

Breaks my heart to see him sick.. Jertie -- like you said, I know fevers are good.. the body's way of responding to something.. but, it still sucks to see him so lethargic.. and to feel his skin so hot!!
