  • I really like this! It's so true. My daughter turns 3 in sept and I'm always telling her why she can't so something no just that she will get in trouble if she does it. I think too many parents now just try to appease the kid instead of teaching them right from wrong and how to act appropriately. Don't get me wrong I've done the same sometimes too when I need 15 minutes to myself. But, I don't ignore something that needs to be addressed just so that I don't have to deal with a tantrum or whatever.

  • I have always found the cultural differences in child rearing intriguing. When I was pregnant I read Bringing up BeBe it is a good read if you ever have the time. It is written by an American woman living in France noting her observations on the differences in parenting practices and child expectations.
