Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Baby fell so scared

My baby fell out of her high chair and hit her head on our kitchen chair which is padded. I just forgot I undid straps and turned around and out she went. I am freaking out. She cried for 1 min but is now happy.

Should I take her to hospital?? Is it possible she seems ok but may have concussion?? What would you do? I am so upset I'm shaking and crying hysterically and she is smiling

Re: Baby fell so scared

  • Like heck I would be on the internet if I was that scared. Call your pedi instead of asking the internet.

  • Take a deep breath - it's ok! Did she land on the floor or on your chair?

She's awake and happy? Can she move everything equally? No projectile vomitting? Not extra sleepy?

Kids fall, that's a fact of life, she's probably just fine, but I'd call your pedi to be sure if it would make you feel comfortable, otherwise, just watch her closely for the next 24 hours and if anything is not normal, take her in.

  • This is crazy....DD fell off our couch last night, around this time too. I think if she's acting normal and can move all parts you should be good. I was a nervous wreck too. DD thought it was funny....ummm yea how about not. Don't worry, I'm sure its going to hurt you for a lot long than it did her!

  • Thanks everyone for responding which I'm just seeing now.

DD is just fine and doing great.

I DID call Ped office as soon as it happened but was awaiting the nurse to call me back. I was just so freaked out at the time, I didn't know what else to do!

The nurse said she was most likely fine since she still was alert, didn't appear drowsy all if a sudden and did not vomit. We still took her to the Ped office for the Dr to check her out. Said she was just perfect but prescribed Mommy wine. I was a wreck. Couldn't sleep that night!

Thanks again for all your input and kind words.
