Went for my first Webster chiro appt

and man, I know that woman I just met very intimately after a 15 minute encounter. Wink Pregnancy really leaves no room for private personal space. Between her and the massage therapist I pay to rub my sore butt, I have no pride. She did the usual adjustments to my back and hips, then flipped me over and dug right into my round ligaments and adjusted my pelvis right through my crotch. She used the Activator tool for all of it, so no cracking/big movements. The pelvis adjustments did hurt a little.

On the plus side, she says my round ligaments are in good alignment and loose, and I don't need to go back until 36 weeks. Baby is head down, but my last baby was born posterior and I'm doing anything I can to avoid that this time.  She's the only Webster-certified chiro in town and it turns out she joined the practice I go to normally, so I figured I might as well see her for the end of my pregnancy.

Re: Went for my first Webster chiro appt

  • This is very cool! I had never heard of Webster-chiro until now, but I searched it. Lurking on these boards makes me realize a lot of the things I miss out on because I'm in a rural town!
I am grateful that my local hospital has a CNM program and there's a level III NICU only a short helicopter ride away. Sometimes I think my mid-sized town is perfect and the best of both worlds, but all these Bradley classes and acupuncture and chiro business make me a little wishful sometimes!

Oh my god, I hate that activator tool. When I went to the chiro before DD was born, he used that during the 2nd adjustment and while I did feel better aligned, I was sore afterwards! And I seriously missed the cracking moves of a regular adjustment.

And I remember that awkward feeling as the (male) chiro dug into my round ligaments 15 minutes after I first met him. I was uncomfortable at the time, but when I got up and didn't have shooting pain in my crotch for the first time in weeks it was worth it.

I hope your DD stays anterior for you!

  • Glad it went well! I've been seeing a Webster certified chiro now since probably about 26 weeks, which has been super helpful for my SPD. Certainly intimate with the pubic bone adjustments and the "butt" adjustments and massaging the RL's lol :)

  • I've got a posterior baby with an unstable position currently, and my midwife wants me to see a Webster chiro. I've been nervous about it, I've never been to a chiropractor before!

It's seriously nothing to worry about! You get to keep your clothes on, generally. Webster is a bit more into your belly and lady bits than a regular appointment, but if it helps, it's worth a few more prods to the crotch.

And I say that as a "birthed a posterior baby" mom that remembers her third degree tear a bit too clearly.

Yeah, I'm willing to do anything to help...dd was the perfect baby. Perfect positioning, slid right out. I can't imagine birthing a posterior baby, and the look on my midwife's face when she felt her face in the front yesterday pretty much confirmed that I'll do anything to convince this stubborn LO to cooperate like her sister!

  • Sounds like you got good care. Hopefully you'll "hold" well until 36. Hopefully webster will do a lot to bring an anterior baby. Rebozo was a huge help on top of chiro, and I did rebozo sifting and went into labor that night, after she flipped back to anterior. Keep that one in your back pocket if you start having prodromal labor that doesn't seem to pick up, and baby is again posterior.

I'm not wild about the activator as the area is tender with the SPD I usually have. The chiro I tried first during my last pregnancy did that, and the one I switched do and will return to this time, doesn't use the activator.   But, I don't think the first chiro was webster, she just came recommended my local ICAN group. Love my other one though, she's so awesome.
