My contract is up and my Iphone is on the fritz. I like it but I kind of feel I can get the same thing from a different phone. I pretty much only use it for calls/texts/internet searches (and bumping) and Pandora which is just an app so its no big deal.
What do you have and why do you like it?
Update: Thanks ladies for your input. I ended up going with what I know and went with an Iphone 5.
Re: NBR-Recommend your Smart Phone
And the S4 looks pretty cool. I would ask if they have changed the auto correct feature though.
Yes the swype helps a lot. I don't know why that makes such a difference but it does. I forgot about that. I just started using it.
With the last update it removed autocorrect on the S3. You can download JellyBean Keyboard from the play store and that will have autocorrect that helps in texting. At least this is the case for the Verizon version.
I work for Verizon and I have the Galaxy S 4. The camera is nice on it (13mp) and the battery is decent. But I also am a huge fan of Motorola. Check out the Motorola HD too.

I just got the Galaxy S 4 after having an HTC Sensation. The S4 is a pretty big phone so you'll want to go check it out in the store first to see if it will be comfortable in your hands. It's much bigger than the iPhone, which in some ways I really like, but I have small hands and so texting and stuff on it is a little challenging (and that is my main form of communication. Also, i'll have to check out the Jelly bean thing because there doesn't seem to be auto correct at all.
I don't like that when I get a text message, it only notifies me that I have a message and that's it. I have to get into the phone and get to the messaging to see who it's from and read any of it. My HTC would give me a notification of who it was from and also the first line of text. If anyone has a tip for how to make that happen on the S4 I'd appreciate it.
But, I mainly got the phone for the camera. We use our cell phones exclusively as our cameras so I wanted the 13MP (as compared to the 8MPs foriPhone and S3) for when this baby comes. I can definitely tell a huge difference in picture quality from my HTC, but, then again, I probably only had like 6MP on that phone.
Good luck choosing!!
Yeah I just ordered the iphone 5. I really looked at what I do with my phone and what the others have to offer and felt that this was the best route. Plus, it doesnt help that I am afraid of change. I usually stick to what I know.
Download SwiftKey from the Google play store. It is a much better keyboard. Also, you can change the autocorrect settings for the Samsung keyboard. GL
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! this works soooooo much better!! you have no idea how excited I am. This is probably the most exciting thing I have learned from the bump yet... you are currently my hero
I just upgraded from the iphone 4 to the 5, and have loved both. I love the speed and the camera on the 5, and the imessage feature with non-cell phone users. Love my apps, though I'm sure many of them are available on another platform like android.
I also have a macbook and probably what I love most is using iBank for finances and being able to sync my phone app with my mac app. I enter my purchases on my phone and can sync it when I get back, as can DH. Our financial record keeping (especially from him) has improved a ton from when I used Quicken on a PC.
Are you talking about only having one page within a folder, to organize apps? I'm thinking you meant that since the iphone allows multiple pages of apps, but does limit to 9 or 12 in a folder. My DH is an Apple geek, following the new OS coming out this fall, and that restriction will no longer be there - app folders can contain more than one page of apps.
I hope I explain this right lol.. I like that there are multiple "home pages" and that on each page I can have all the different icons for my apps. so that there is still space on the screen instead of on the Iphone where all your apps are just stacked on top of each other until you need to go to another page.. does that make sense? Its just my organizational OCD
This is what I ended up ordering. The Iphone 5 that is. I went in the store to do some verification things with my husbands work (we get a 17% discount on our bill and it needs to be verified every 2 years) and saw the galaxy and holy hell is that thing huge! It barely fit into my hands and if I added a protective cover there would be no way I could keep a decent grip on it.
I am honestly shocked at how long my Iphone 4 lasted. I am the grim reaper of phones. I drop them ALL OF THE TIME. I had a hard cover on it for awhile before I chipped one of the corners off and it basically fell off all of the time after that. What do I do? Take the whole thing off. I have a gaping hole in the back of the phone and now if I am on a call and someone beeps in, I can hear the beep but it doesnt show who is calling or give me the option to switch over. I joke with friends that at least its my phone that I drop and not my kids.
Also, I only had 3g on my phone and not 4g for some reason so I am hoping that things speed up when I am looking on facebook which has been the biggest drag so far.
JB! You cannot leave the iPhone experience! I like it because it rules the world. Everyone is doing it, and I can't help but fall into the peer pressure. Nick just got the iPhone 5 after having Android forever and is so happy!
Ha, but for real, I went from Android to the iPhone 4S just over a year ago and never looked back. Everything syncs. The phone is great. The insurance is great. I am not sure if you and your DH share a lot of stuff over the phone, but with the iPhone you can both even share the same Apple ID. Then you only pay for apps once. Your calendars and lists are identical.
Using the iPhone is like the English language of cell phones. It is universal almost wherever you go.
Good luck shopping!!
ETA: I just read your posts that you got the iPhone 5. Yay. Celebratory cheers here!
