I am 7 weeks pregnant and have been searching all over the Sacramento area for a place that excepts Molina Medi-Cal Insurance.
Because I have a company that is a middle man for my Medi-Cal insurance no one in the near by area excepts my healthcare because of the bad reputation they have presented. In my short experience Molina Healthcare they have made it difficult to even see a primary care doc to be reffered to a OBGYN which they don't have.
I have yet to see any doctor for my first prenatal visit and don't know if my pregnancy is progressing or even get confimation that they can see an egg.
Re: 7 Weeks and Still No Doc Appointment
I didn't see an OB until 12 weeks. Unless you had fertility issues and/or underlying conditions, most practices don't see a patient until 8 weeks or so.
And how is this a "High Risk Pregnancy" issue? :-/
I'm sorry to hear! If the condition requires you be seen immediately I would definitely push to be seen ASAP. I think part of it depends on the coverage that you have with your insurance(?)
Good luck!
It won't hurt to check with your insurance if they provide a "nurse's line" Many insurances do this now. The way it works is, the nurses (or insurance reps) are available (usually over the phone) to answer questions and will have better insight to the type of coverage you get, what to expect, when etc.
But if I were to guess, you'll probably won't be seen until you're after 8 weeks or so. And when you do go in, the appointment will consist of a nurse (maybe a doctor) going over your medical history and confirming your pregnancy either with urine or blood. Please don't be disappointed when you don't get an ultrasound. Again, depending on your coverage, you may get one at 12 weeks or may have to wait until 20 weeks.
Hope this helps.
Just wanted to say I didn't see a doctor until I was 12 weeks along. It's just standard at my practice and through my insurance to begin prenatal care at that time.
If you're having so much trouble finding a regular doctor, why not try planned parenthood? Most of them offer prenatal services.
Good luck!
Why don't you get a referral from your PCP or specialist? Or check your insurance website for covered providers....
