Baby recipes.

So, I'm a pretty shiitty cook. I'll admit it. I grew up popping stuff in the microwave for my sisters and I, BUT, I don't want it to be like that for G. Now that he's pretty much refusing anything on a spoon, I've been "cooking" his meals. I've been trying to go the "au natural" route and not buy boxed/pre-packaged things because, well, we're trying to do that in our household as a whole.

So, share your baby recipes.

I made this for dinner tonight. It was so good and didn't take me long to make. I cut the recipe on the website down to one serving, followed the ingredient sizes, but used 1.5 cups of noodles instead of the 2 ounces. I had more than enough cheese sauce, even with the cut down recipe. I popped it in the freezer for a few minutes to cool it down and into his mouth it went. He LOVED it.

I'm making these tomorrow, but probably with coconut instead of chocolate chips. Granola bars are G's absolute favorite thing in the world (usually he gets Odwalla Berry):

ETA: I also had enough mac & cheese for myself and to save some for lunch for him tomorrow. Then, with the extra noodles I had made, I threw some spaghetti sauce in them.

Re: Baby recipes.

  • We don't do anything special or separate for Gabriel, but we are trying to eat cleaner.  We've been using www.skinnytaste.com for dinner every night, except we use full fat dairy and add a little extra olive oil when called for.  I've been doing weight watchers, so it's been great for me, and the best part?  Husband approved!

  • Some favorite meals:
    Cheese quesadilla with avocado
    Hummus and veggies
    Shredded chicken with veggies
Whole wheat cous cous and quinoa
Lentils [I buy them pre cooked at Trader Joe's. So easy!]
    Broccoli and cheese
    Most any fruit
    Scrambled egg yolk

She also loves those frozen potstickers Sharona mentioned. If all else fails, I give her some Cheerios.
  • I throw chicken breasts on low in the crock pot every Monday along with some olive oil, water, and a little bit of seasonings. I use the precooked chicken for meals for a few days from salads to pastas. I'm also a big fan of the Philly Cream Cheese Creme sauces instead of using cheese to make a "cheesy" dish.
