dairyfree babies

J is sensitive to dairy. I want to be able to give him things like pizza, mac and cheese, etc. Do you think it'd be good to use soy cheese to make food with?

Re: dairyfree babies

  • DH is lactose intolerant.  We use Cabot cheese, which is lactose free.  It's really good too!

  • I've given DS soy cheese. It tastes alright but doesn't melt nearly the same as regular cheese.
  • I'd do lactose free or goat cheeses/hard cheeses.

  • He's had goat cheese plenty of times, but I don't want to make mac and cheese with it lol.

Lactose free probably won't help since babies' dairy sensitivities almost always have to do with milk proteins, and not lactose. I would probably just offer him something else.
  • If he is okay with nuts, almond cheese melts really well and it tastes pretty good. It's pretty pricey though.

have you done a dairy challenge? cheese and yogurt are easier to tolerate than milk and cream

I'd avoid soy cheeses just because soy isn't that good for you.
