eBay sellers

Anyone successful at selling things on eBay? I feel like every time I think about selling something I search the item and many others are selling similar objects and no one is bidding. I have some household items to sell. Do I just post the stuff and people may eventually buy? Or is it not worth the effort and I should just donate?
Thoughts? Hints on how to sell stuff?

Re: eBay sellers

  • I currently have 3 things on eBay, 2 of which have bidders. The other doesn't even have anyone watching. I'm by no means seasoned at eBay selling, but I think it just depends on what it is. The eBay app is super easy and fast to use so I think it's worth it!
Oh, and be sure to put plenty of real not stock pictures! And lots of details! GL!

  • I don't sell frequently, but sometimes. I started with selling under Armour clothes because those almost always sell. That allowed me to get good ratings to start out.

  • I do as you do and search for the item I'm selling and see if there is a market for it. I see if people are bidding and check to see what the starting price is to get an idea on what attracts bidders. For instance, right now, I'm selling some garage remote openers. A lot of people were buying them and bidding. I'm getting at least 20 bucks more than I was expecting. I sold a ton of my shoes a few weeks ago. I grouped them into lots based on style, started the bidding at like 2 bucks and got 20 dollars for 4 pairs of sandals. Not close to what I paid for them, but better than nothing. There have been some things I haven't sold, like a leather jacket and some shirts but they were a long shot anyway. Just check the listings, take accurate and CLEAR pictures and be honest about the wear and tear on the item.
  • I sell a lot of clothes on ebay (gotta fund the shopping habit!) and even things that I think NO ONE would want, end up selling. You'd be surprised. And if it doesn't sell, no harm, no foul. You are only charged the ebay fee if your item sells. Give it a shot!
