State Required New Born Procedures

Does anyone know what new born procedures AZ state law requires? (Hep B, Vit K ect.) There are some procedures I would like to turn down but I can't seem to find the information anywhere as to what the law actually requires.

  • I don't know the state law but when I gave birth (almost a month ago) I had to approve/deny Hep B, Vita K, and the eye ointment.

  • The erythromycin ointment is required. If you opt to decline it, you usually just sign a waiver.
  • Good to know. It's been awhile since I delivered last & was a little foggy on what was standard. I also know there's a lot that standard & even state law in some places but not necessarily here. I'm ok with Vit K as we are planning to circ in the hospital but the rest I'm either really on the fence or definitely want to waive.

  • I know I was able to opt out of Hep B when I gave birth last year.

Most everything you can opt out of for your baby. I am going to do that for most, even though I know my Doc is going to try to push me. Luckily, my Doula (also a close friend) will be there to help, and her last 3 kids were born home births with no shots/meds/vaccs/etc, so..
