Who else is going all out for the first birthday?? I'm a big party person and I've been thinking about this since...well basically conception
I love doing all the cooking/crafting/decorating and watching it come together. Now that we're almost just 2 months out (Aug 24th is the big party day for us) I'm getting so excited! Finalizing the menu, ordering the last of my supplies, etc.
I know there are other party people out there - make me feel less crazy!! I want to hear what you have planned, see inspiration boards, etc. Share!!

Re: Big Party People!
Since conception - you crack me up!!
LiliD just posted about her plans on her blog this morning! It's soooooo cute.
I'm doing a 'bubbles' theme for B since he's pretty much bath/pool/bubble obsessed. I haven't gotten into too many details yet but I know that's the 'theme.' I'm also leaning towards aqua/orange colors.

I am!!! I don't have too many things purchased, but I just picked out invites and am going to order them soon. Our party is set for August 31st, which is the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. The timing stinks but with my brother's wedding and so much other stuff going on, it's going to have to be then. The theme and colors are set and I have an idea of food and decorations.

Same here! According to DH the only theme we need is "birthday" this year, LOL. I think our invitations will have polka dots so I might do similar decor. I think we may have decided to do tacos? Yeah, that's all I have planned so far!
Here is mine!

You really want to get me started?!
We're going to have a luau in our backyard starting at 3. We have the tent, tables and chairs all set (free from a friend!). Right now, there are just under 100 on our guest list, but I'm thinking it will end up at around 60. We're going to try and go as "hawaiian" as possible with the food (think chicken & pineapple kabobs, coconut rice, pulled pork, etc.) but will probably end up grilling some burgers for the kids, too. We would love a pig roast, but they are freakin' expensive after looking into it!! I'll set up a kid's drink section and DH is going to build a tiki bar for the adults.
The colors will probably be orange, aqua and lime. All of the luau decorations I see are pretty girly with all the hibiscus flowers, so we're going to go more boyish with tiki man decorations. We have a ton of cardboard from moving and I'm going to make big surfboards out of it. I'll DIY the majority of the decorations.
We have a ton of kids on the guest list so I'm going to set up yard games and possibly rent a bounce house. I'll do beach themed favors in a sand bucket or give out hula hoops, depends on how many kids come.
We're going to do cupcakes for everyone else and a smash cake in the shape of a pineapple.
These are the invites I believe we're going with

Reading that, I sound like a crazy person!! But really, throwing parties is my thing. I love it.

Im requesting the whole weekend off to be ready. [Young cooks dont get weekends off] Party date is aug 25. Just ordered a bunch of stuff, and plan on going full party planning mode on Monday.
Eta: party is at 3:30, so we're having finger foods and cupcakes. It's at a local pool's clubhouse, so we have the option of swimming too!
About 30 people. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme. Colors are pretty much red, blue, yellow. I got an almost 5ft tall mickey balloon today.
Pretty much a backyard BBQ. We dont have a huge yard so not too much, but some games, and we have the pool. Music, lots of food.
Regular cake will look like a hot dog. Smash cake will be a Mickey cupcake.
Totally stealing this idea!! I love it! I've got a bunch of diaper boxes lying around too...

We're doing the 24th too! We need good weather or I'll have to change a lot. We're having a biggish party.
I have tons of decorations to make I'm almost done with the invites though!
I love planning parties!
Maybe it's in another post and I missed it, but what's YOUR theme?!
We are doing an Under the Sea theme for Emilie's 1st. I am making the invites, and my MIL is putting together the menu and games. I think over the next two months Emilie and I will work on a few DIY decorations!
I would have a big party if we knew more people.
Really, I want to invite all our friends (with or without kids, we don't discriminate) but I don't want them to think they have to bring gifts.
Is there a tactful way to put on the invitations that we want them to come eat all our food, but that they do NOT need to bring DD a gift?
I never posted it
We're doing a nautical theme for a couple reasons - first of all, it's a pool party, so it seemed fitting. Second, the whole theme is based off a framed print in his room that says "A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor." He's had quite a year so we really want to celebrate the end of the hardest year of his life (*hopefully*)
I love an under the sea theme! So cute!! You have so many great color options

Our party is also the 24th!!!!!
AND OHH THE SIZE!! I thought it would be just family, but HECK NO! I have been planning this thing forever! He only turns 1 once, RIGHT?!
I am working on a blog post with my ideas! I will share once I am finished!
That theme and reasoning for it is so fitting and sweet. I bet it will turn out great!
That'll be perfect!
