Cravings and food aversions

I've been having food aversions more than anything else for the past 3-4 weeks. It got to the point where I would think of a certain type of food and either feel like throwing up or actually throwing up because it was so unappealing to me.

I don't recall really craving anything until this morning. I'm a bit hungry and really fancy some maple syrup and am now seriously considering going to the McDonalds drive through for some pancakes to satisfy this craving.  I was off sick yesterday and have so much to catch up on..... but I really want that maple syrup!!!

Anybody else having food aversions or cravings which are tough to control?

  • All I want to eat are things that are salty or sour. The good news is I've found healthy things like a ton of cut up tomatoes with balsalmic vinegar one them, but it makes eating protein hard so I have to get creative. The funny thing is that I am a total chocolate addict and I cannot stand the thought of it these days- nothign sweet sounds remotely good.

  • Most of the time, when I get a craving, it is literally all I can think about. And it doesn't go away until I have it, even if it's days later. My most inconvenient ones lately have been slow-roasted bbq chicken, and pomegranate.

  • I had an aversion to coffee with DD. It's back. No huge cravings yet, although cherry coke keeps sounding delicious (I don't drink soda normally).

  • my cravings are kind of all over the place but mostly cold things, I work at a restaurant a lot of nights and I worked the patio on Monday and it was so unbearably hot I went and bought 2 packages of ice pops, some Klondike bars and some Italian ices when I got out of work. anything really cold sounds pretty much amazing, good thing it's summer time. As for food aversions, sea food smells and looks disgusting, also a steak salad at work with blue cheese crumbles mixed in the dressing looks like vomit on a plate, and if I even smell it it's over.

    I dread lunchtime because I don't want to eat anything even though I'm starving!

  • I NEEDED elephant ears last week. But, I had no idea where to get one and was too lazy to make them from scratch so I fried some crescent rolls from Trader Joe's and covered them in butter and cinnamon sugar. Almost as good, it satisfied me anyways!

    I'm getting the same aversions I had on DD

    chicken... vomit.  bacon.....vomit.  spinach.....vomit, strawberries....vomit??? that's a new one! I honestly have an aversion to all things healthy, it is depressing!

     

    What I can stomach?

    nachos and cheese sauce
    cinnamon toast crunch
    all bran bars
    oreos
    orange juice

    and that's been my diet the last 2 weeks... NOT a good time!  I do however like cantaloupe and honeydew melon so I am just trying to stock up on that!!

  • The reason I was going out to eat more often was because I would think about what's for dinner and end up gagging when I began to cook it and suffer thru eating it.
    If I went out to eat or ordered in, I wouldn't have time to make myself sick over it. So weird, but that's what happened.

    Me!  I'm craving vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce and whipped cream.  I bought a pound of strawberries yesterday and I will be cooking them up into a sauce for my sundae tonight - can't wait!  Smile

     Also - just a suggestion - if you're really craving maple syrup, please please don't try to satisfy it with McDonalds syrup!  That is fake maple syrup made from high fructose corn syrup.  Get some of the real stuff, it tastes sooo much better - just my opinion.  I'm originally from New England and I grew up down the street from a place where they tapped the trees and made real syrup, and nothing but the real deal will do for me.

    Sorry, I caved.  I had to have pancakes and maple syrup so my assistant offered to go and get them and McD's is the only place that has them near us.  I know it's not great syrup (we have much better stuff in Canada than McD's) but it satisfied the craving and I am one very happy girl right now!

  • I have a TON of food aversions. Not many cravings. Last pg I started loving really flavorful foods, this pg all I can usually handle is plain boring stuff (like toast). I want so badly to be able to eat a yummy meal again!! I desire delicious food but can't stomach it once I either see it or take a bite. But I haven't thrown up at all, so maybe I should force myself to eat real food?

  • Im pretty turned off by most foods... But salt and vinegar crisps seem to stave off my morning sickness. Anything greasy or fried or chocolately is a huge no no, but in finally being able to eat and slightly enjoy fruit and veg again, especially plums and cherries, yum.... I might have some right now!

    This!! I've started to have more of an appetite but am running out of foods I can stand eating without spitting them out and gagging. Old standbys like potatoes are now ick to me. DH likes to get egg and bagel sandwiches in the morning and I have to leave the room - eggs gross me out. Hard to get enough protein - agree w/other ladies on that. I've found that I crave and can pretty consistently get down a Jamba Juice smoothie. I think that's good because I get mine with soy for some protein and they use all fresh fruits so I'm getting a lot of filling fiber and good vitamins too I figure. Otherwise I'm just hoping that I'll turn the corner on the nausea and aversions soon because I'm running out of foods to eat!

  • Mine are awful! I can only eat very specific, totally random things. Needless to say, our grocery bill has spiraled out of control. Most of the things I want aren't exactly healthy, either. But I just can't stomach anything else.

  • I want to eat all of the tex mex food.  ALL OF IT!  I want tacos, burritos, enchiladas, loaded nachos, guacamole, quesadillas, rice and beans.  Nom, nom, nom.

    The only real aversion I have right now is chicken.  The thought of eating chicken is so unappealing at this point.  I had chicken noodle soup today and had to pick out any chicken that was in it.

    I'm having many food aversions. I ate only carrots and the natural Cheetos puffs yesterday. It's been really hard to make well balanced meals for the kids. My son is loving this- Cheetos!!!!!!

     

  • Nothing too bad, with DS I was very turned off by meat, but I am doing better with it this time around.  I am really wanting cheese and crackers lately (or cheese in general) which is somewhat normal for me, I love dairy.  I also have a problem with making something taking a few bites and suddenly feeling like I want to puke.  That has happened with dinner the past few nights.
