Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Anyone's 15+ month old still taking 2 naps?

We still are at 2 naps sometimes. When she takes one nap she either can't make it much pass 11am then wakes too early in the day resulting in a WAY early bedtime. Like 6pm and hubby isn't home from work so he rarely sees her during the week. Or she'll make it until noon then still only sleep 1.5 hrs and is so tired by 5pm making her not eat a good dinner before bed. When she is overtired she never eats a lot.

Then some mornings I can still get her to take a morning nap and she'll wake between 10:30-11 and will not take a 2nd nap! Only sometimes she will. But she'll be awake like 6+ hours on these days. I'll try and try to get her to take atleast a 30 minute catnap in the late afternoon and she will not.

Anyone else in this boat? What's your day look like with a 15 month old?

  • At 15 months my girls were still taking two naps. They would nap from 9:30-11 and then 2-4 w/ 7:30 bed time. They just went down to one nap at 17 months and have a hard time staying awake until 12:30 but they will take a 2.5 to 3 hour nap most days.
After 3 years of infertility we were blessed with twin girls through private infant adoption.

  • Yes! My son is 16 months and still at 2 naps. I thought I was alone. He still grabs his blanket around 9-9:30 and stands at the bottom of the stairs waiting to go up to his room. He'll nap until about 11 and then will go down for a second nap at 2 until about 3:30-4ish.

So today is a two nap day. She slept from 9am to 10:45am or so then asleep at 2pm. I really think she needs 2 naps most times. Her night time sleep is awful due to teething all canine's which have finally all came in and ALL 4 molars. I go with the flow to. If she's tired I lay her down. But she'll just fight it some days even though she's yawning and rubbing her eyes. Our days just don't seem to stay consistent they are different from day to day. I'm glad she took another nap though this means she should see daddy when he's home from work! :)

  • My twins are still taking two naps and they will be 18 months on Friday. They wake up around 6:30 (I assume they hear big brother getting ready for school, but I also need to invest in blackout curtins) and can go down around 9, and sleep for about an hour. They will take a second around 1-3. I was going to force them to one nap, but honestly, with two, I appreciate the break AND I know once they go to one, that's IT!
  • My 18 month old is still taking 2 naps most of the time. He dropped to one nap around 15 months for a few weeks, but then switched back to two. It is obvious he still needs two, so we will stick with that for now.

  • At 15 months, he was taking 2 one-hour naps a day every day.  Around 16 months, he would take one long nap for the sitter twice a week, but we always did two naps at home because his first nap would still only be an hour and he just can't make it all afternoon on one hour of sleep.  At 17 months, he went into day care where they nap from 12 - 2.  So Mon, Wed and Friday he naps once for almost 2 hours at daycare.   At home the other 4 days, he naps 11 - 12 and 3:30 - 4:30.  I wasn't sure how alternating 1 and 2-nap days would go but so far its working out fine.  He is still going to bed at 7:45 and sleeping til 7am.

    Occasionally (I'd say 1-2 times a week).

  • 19 mos and still two, 1 1/2 hour naps each. I miss every play date known to man but with a 4 mos old as well, I'm soaking it in as long as it lasts.

  • DD takes 2 naps during the weekend, but only one in daycare.

  • DS is 18 months and he takes two 45min naps on the weekends (once in morning, once in afternoon).

At daycare during the week he takes a single 2 hour nap (in the afternoon).

We're not quite sure how they keep him awake after 10am at daycare. He's usually cranky and sleepy at home.
