My hubby and I have decided to find out the gender at our appt. We want to do something special when we announce the gender to our parents.
Any suggestions? How did you tell your loved ones?
It's not very original, but I love to bake, so I used a cake. We're having twins, so I made a 3-layer cake for my mom's birthday with blue and green frosting inside (green for girl because I don't like pink - the colors were was explained before I made the cake). It was a big hit.
Our parents live in another state, so I'm in a conundrum. My U/S is on a Tuesday, so there's no way they can take off work during the week. And I know they'll want to know the gender right away. lol So I'm thinking about taking the U/S picture and adding a little hair bow for a girl or a little bow tie for a boy and then emailing it to them.

DH and I are going to visit our families (6 hr drive, yuck!) over the fourth of July weekend since we both have the 4th and 5th off. We find out the sex on the 3rd right before we leave so we are going to announce at the baby shower my MIL is doing for us on July 6th.
We're going to do the balloon thing but add in a lottery. When the guests come, we'll have them write on a piece of paper boy or girl and their name then they will put it in the proper bowl (one for boy and one for girl). After we release the balloons we'll draw a name from the correct bowl and they'll get a prize. It'll be so nice to see everyone's reactions! Since we live so far away most of our news is told over the phone so I am really excited to share this in person! I'm counting down the hours!!!!

We do family dinners every week with my family. We're going to make cupcakes (just enough that everyone gets one) and one cupcake will have a filling that's either blue or pink. We'll all bite into at the same time and see who gets the colored cake
I've worked at Build A Bear for 5 years now, so appropriately we are giving the grandparents a pink/blue bear with the heartbeat recorded in it!! We find out the gender next week 21 weeks!
