I bought some material to make my own moby style wrap. I bought 5 yards of a thin t-shirt like material that is also like a jersey stretch cotton. I am almost 37 weeks pregnant so I know I am huge but when I tried it out, 5 yards seems too short. When I looked at sizing online it stated for women sized 8-16 that 5 yards of material would be enough and pre preg I was around a 10/12. So my question is this - should I wait until after the baby is born to try again when I am smaller and not pregnant or should I just sew on 1 more yard ( I have extra of the same fabric )? If I sew on a yard to one end, does anyone think that will ruin the wrap as far as strength when in use or the fabric pulling apart? Ugh! I also do not want to waste the 5 yards of fabric. Just looking for input. I might just sew on the extra yard and be careful when I use it for the first time.
Re: making your own moby style wrap
5 yards was enough if I tied off at my back. I think a real moby is closer to 6 yards
don't try and sew more fabric to make it longer, too much of a risk of the seem giving out
6 yds fits me and I'm a size 22, so I think you'll be great with 5!
