NBR foot pain

Anyone have experience with foot pain? On Monday night the outer side of my foot hurt...not bad but noticeable. Yesterday it hurt but more so later in the day, didn't notice it until night. When I work up for MOTN feeding, I could barely walk on it.

It's mostly the outer side and top. It's not really swollen and is not bruised though it feels like it should be. The rest of the foot is fine.

I know the obvious answer is to go tithe doctor which I will be tomorrow but just curious. If I broke a bone wouldnt it be pretty swollen?

Oh and I have no idea what happened. The only thing I can think of is a kid stepped on my foot on Monday though I'm not even sure it's the same foot. Didn't make that big of an impression at the time.. kwim?

Re: NBR foot pain

  • Do you, perchance, have a newer pair of thin bottomed sandals or ballet flats?  My feet will get a random pain on the outer side of my foot if my shoes aren't supportive enough or slightly too small.

It doesn't even have to hurt at the time of wearing them for it to kick in.

  • Is it tender to pressure from just your fingers (rather than stepping on it)?  Is it relieved by Tylenol?

If you are talking about the outer edge between pinky toe and ankle, it could be tondons running under your pinky toe that connect to your heel (press sequentially along that plane and see if the pain follows that path).

It also sounds like the pain I've had from stress fractures but you don't seem to have an injury that would have caused that amount of daamge.  You could try an Ace wrap and see if that helps it feel more stable.

    Good luck!

I was wearing a newish pair of Toms when it happened. But this feels a lot more painful.

Yes it hurts with pressure from walking and from fingers. It is from right below pinkie to just above ankle. My H is bringin tyelonol home for me because we only have stuff not safe for BF. I will try the ace bandage.

What did you do about the stess fractures? Cast? Thanks!

  • Usually no cast for simple stress fractures -- but given the lack of support in Toms, I'd suggest wearing supportive shoes for a day or so (not walking barefoot a lot), icing if you need to and taking Tylelnol.  Hopefully that will clear it up
