Super clingy/needy

Every evening, like clockwork starting at 6:30 pm Connor goes into his feisty tit phase. It's bad guys,he will fuss and cry if I am not holding him and walking around with him. He refuses to let Dad hold him, he won't sit in his jumper, nothing works.Last night I was busy trying to get dinner ready and I had him in his jumperoo. He was less than 3 feet from me,I was talking to him and that was not good enough. I decided he was fed, dry, burped and it would not hurt him to fuss for a minute. WRONG,he went into major meltdown screaming until I picked him up.

This is literally every single night...we almost dread the evenings as a family because nothing makes him happy. He is fine all day,and sleeps through the night most nights.Does anyone else's LO act like this? I am at my wits end.

Re: Super clingy/needy

  • DD recently started refusing anyone but me when tired. Really inconvenient, but I'm hoping its just a phase. I'm still on mat leave, so she does this before naps as well as bedtime. And it puts DH in a really bad mood when she cries for him, so our evenings have become him sulking watching TV while I do everything wearing the baby.

No help, but I feel your pain!

Yep, my DD has been this way recently too.  I feel terrible for DH because this is the only time he really sees her.  I have been taking her for walks outside in the evening to distract her.  It sucks!
  • If she doesn't get good naps she starts getting crazy about dinner time. DH better not even try to kiss her or she flips.
On normal nap days she gets that way about an hour later.

  • I wish I could take Connor outside for a walk but it's still over 100 degrees in the evening. My SO feels awful as he wants to help but it just isn't working. It is just constant whining and fussing, then full blown screaming. We have started eating dinner after 8 pm when Connor goes to sleep just to have meals together in peace. This has gone on for about a month. If we go to the store in the evenings he is fine, but we can't shop every single night.

  • I feel your pain, we are going through this too. No one else can put DD down for naps or bed except for me. She will scream her head off if DH tries to. I decided with my next one, I am letting other people soothe him or her so I can get a break once in awhile.

  • She is doing it at times; DH will walk with her around the house, sing in really low tones and she can calm for the most part, as long as she does NOT see me. DH made the mistake while I was brushing and flossing the other night of putting her on the bed and laying next to her (like I normally do for bed time feedings) ... that did NOT go over well.

  • DD goes through fussy phases in the evening, but as of yet, she hasn't been clingy to one person so much as she just doesn't want to be put down. Have you tried wearing him so you can at least get something done?

  • DD does this exact thing for me. Every. Single. Night. I have just gotten to a point where I will set her in her chair, and as long as I know she is fed/changed/not sleepy, I will let her cry. It's harsh, but I need to feed the other monster in our house, and cooking with her in my arms is just a pain in the arse.

Dang babies think they are special or something. ;)

  • I have tried wearing him but I think he gets too hot in the Ergo. At least now I don't feel like the only one. Sometimes I will try not to let him see me so he doesn't scream, because if he does,or hears me all hell breaks loose. The other night I laid on the floor and told SO to just shove him back up there.

  • My dd decides every night at dinner time to be fussy. As soon as we sit down to eat she starts crying, fussing. She doesn't care who holds her as long as its me or DH during that time. It's like she knows exactly when to start fussing around dinner time.

  • Yep, us too. It's like he's got a clock with an alarm in his little fussy self. Happy & content with everyone in the world until 6pm - then, it's Mommy's Monster.
