For Mobile Users: Dr. Unconcerned w/ Weight Gain and Swelling?
I am 34 weeks pregnant. I have GD and I take Metformin 2X a day. I test my sugars 4X a day and they are well within the normal range.
I'm hoping this is FTM Anxiety, but I've horrified myself by consulting Dr. Google.
For the past couple weeks, I've had swelling in my ankles and feet. My left leg is slightly more swollen than my right. I brought this up at my doctor's appointment on Monday. She said all tests look good. She ruled out clots or preeclampsia. She chalked it up to normal swelling in late pregnancy.
Additionally, I was 7 lbs heavier than 2 weeks ago! I told her I was concerned because I was led to believe more than 2 lbs in a week is a concern. She told me she only really gets concerned with weight gain in patients who are overweight and obese prior to pregnancy, not healthy individuals like myself. I have gained 24 lbs in total during this pregnancy.
I know, I should probably listen to my doctor and not be stressed, but it's difficult. I don't want to gain too much weight, especially with GD and this swelling is super annoying.
Anyone else have similar experiences or explanations from their OBs?

As far as the weight, it may not be 7 lbs in one week, it could be other things. Are you hydrated or dehydrated? Are you constipated? Did they weigh you at different times of day? Are you getting enough salt? Did you have different clothes or shoes on?
I have noticed all these things effect weight. I weigh myself first thing in the am without clothes. I noticed if I am constipated, it can add a couple pounds or so. I have also seen it fluctuate a pound or two.

I didn't think about it at the time, but all of my previous appointments were in the morning, around 9 or 10am. This week, my appointment was at 4:30 in the afternoon. That might account for a couple pounds difference.
Thanks for all your responses!
You're late in pregnancy and swelling is normal. If your doctor was concerned then they would have said something. It would be concerning if you had high blood pressure and signs of preeclampsia.
