Today I went in for another blood draw to help confirm a missed miscarriage. After getting the results back I'm very confused.
A little history: at 6w, last Tuesday, I started spotting brown, Thursday it turned pink with red streaks. My MW sent me for blood work on Friday mornong.I also went Monday morning. On Tuesday I was told my results from Friday were on the low end and that my levels had dropped on Monday, not a lot but definitely didn't double like they should have.
Fast forward to today, I'm still having very light spotting. This mornings betas results were more than my previous levels. They didn't double but they did increase. I'm being sent for more blood work on Friday because my MW doesn't feel comfortable taking the next step without a little more data.
Honestly, I'm pretty positive that this pregnancy is still going to end in mc, if it hasn't already, but I would love to know what my body I doing.
Has anyone else experienced spotting, low hcg, then have it drop and rise? From the little research I've done it sounds like it could be ectopic. TIA ladies.
Also, all the creepy hugs and thoughts and prayers were very much appreciated. Love you ladies!
Re: Update on me...
I'm so very sorry for what you are going through.
Honestly, I would demand an ultrasound at this point. If you have further blood work on Friday, then you still have to wait another weekend to find out. And if it is ectopic, shouldn't you find out sooner rather than later? I just think it's unfair to put you through all of this waiting around.
I had a similar experience with my December baby, and they sent me for blood work, but then immediately when it looked fishy they sent me for an ultrasound that SAME day.I'm sorry you're going through this. I had an ectopic prior to having DS. I had what I thought was my period but had continued spotting the following week so I took a pregnancy test just to see and it turned up positive. My betas were low but they were rising. I think it was on my 3rd beta draw that they were like...hm, maybe we should check this out. They did an u/s at 8 weeks and I had emergency surgery a couple hours later.
I would ask for an ultrasound at this point. When I went in for my surgery the doctor told me I was already bleeding internally and about a day away from eruption, but fortunately he was able to save my tube. It could still be a m/c but I think it's better to know for sure. If it is ectopic at this point they would probably still be able to do the methotrexate and not surgery but over time it will grow and they'll have to remove it surgically if it gets too big.
I agree with asking for an ultrasound -- I'm really surprised they haven't done one, especially if an ectopic pregnancy is a possibility.
I'm sorry this is all so confusing. I totally get just wanting to know what's going on with your body so you can process it and move on!
No medical advice, but wishing you tons of T&P. I hope you get answers soon.
I always think it is a good idea to follow-up with your doctor if you have questions or aren't sure you're getting the care you need. Good luck!
