Umbrella Stroller Recs?

Looking for a stroller to take with us in the airport this summer... I'm thinking an umbrella stroller - something not too heavy, folds up small, etc.  Looking at the Chicco Capri maybe... Anyone have it?  LIke it?

Should I just get a babies r us umbrella stroller for $20 and call it a day?

For what it's worth, we have no issues whatsoever with the Chicco stroller that came with our travel system.  DD rides in it all the time and she loves it, so I'm not really looking to replace that (i.e., I don't want to spend another $150 on a stroller).

Re: Umbrella Stroller Recs?

  • I was pretty particular in that I wanted an umbrella/light weight stroller that could still recline and had a basket. This eliminated a lot of them and raised the price a bit. We ended up with the Mia Moda Facile. It's a great little stroller! I have also heard good things about the Chicco Liteway stroller, but we didn't want to spend that much.

If you are on the tall side, the cheapie umbrella ones will kill your back. They do okay on smooth terrain but even struggle to turn on some smooth carpets (i.e., hotels). When we bought our umbrella stroller, we were pretty much ready to retire our larger (but still useful) graco metrolite, in favor of something smaller that still reclined and had a basket and nice sized canopy. We got the Inglesina Swift and LOVE it. We ended up using it as our primary stroller until DD was born. I think we paid just about $100 for it at the time. Good luck!
