C-sections

Bloated/gassy feeling??

I had my RCS 8 days ago. The soreness and pain is gone. I'm getting around great but I still have that bloated and painful gassy feeling. It hurts when I sneeze. I get painful gas bubbles too. I wish I could just fart!! I just hate this feeling. Anyone else deal w this?

Re: Bloated/gassy feeling??

  • I didn't pass gas or poop for 5 days after my c section. My bowel was completely blocked. The pain was way worse than anything i felt from the actual surgery. In the hospital they put me on a clear liquid diet for a few days and when I finally went to the bathroom I had major food restrictions - nothing gassy, spicy, greasy, etc. I still haven't eaten anything gassy or spicy. Did they discharge you even though you haven't even passed gas? I had to stay in the hospital two extra days until I did.

  • Are you able to get into the yoga position downward dog? That sometimes helps. I was doing it in the hospital.

I was passing gas in the hospital. It just doesn't seem like passing enough gas now. It took forever for me have a BM too. I'm still not regular yet.
  • Are you wearing the belly binder they hopefully gave you? That helped support my middle and work the gas out. I do recall that annoyance after my cs 4 years ago.  When I took it off, I felt pretty uncomfortable with gas.

I just had a c/s three days ago and I was farting that night, though it took me until today to actually poop - and it was the tiniest, most disappointing poop for the amount of effort that I put into it!

The nurses here have been giving me something they ominously call "the cocktail" - half a cup apple juice, half a cup prune juice, two tablespoons lemon juice, served warm.  It doesn't taste great, but it works.  I'm working on my 4th drink right now.

  • This is all totally normal. Remember your insides have been move around. And trapped air from your surgery can cause gas too. Hope you feel better soon!
