watery eyes

For the past 2 weeks(ish) I have notice DS has constant watery eyes.  They're not red, and they're not irritating to him...he just always has eyes full, and sometimes one tear below the eye (he looks so pathetic haha).

Could this be allergies, or something else? I have major outdoor allergies so it wouldn't surprise me, but I had read a while ago that children can't develop allergies before 2...maybe I'm remembering it wrong though.

Re: watery eyes

  • This to me sounds like allergies, especially if you have allergies. I also have many allergies to ALL allergens. I believe my son has allergies, I have always given him childrens Benedryl. I would follow the instructions and talk to your pediatrician to make sure all is safe.

  • It sounds like it could definitely be allergies. Children can develop them before age 2. They can start to develop them around age 1. You can try giving him some children's Zyrtec and see if it helps.

  • I've heard of blocked tear ducts causing this.  A friend of mine had her LO operated on at 1 year for it.  Super minor and somewhat common.  Been fine ever since.  But if it's just new now it could totally be allergies too!  Mine just kicked in this morning!  AWESOME!
