LO #1 has recently stopped napping. No matter how much activity we do in the morning he just won't nap. He'll sit in his room and read, talk to himself, run around for two hours, but no napping. He was napping fine at daycare, but I'm sure that's because everyone else was too. I'm a teacher and I'm off for the summer. He still goes 3 days a week just in the morning, but still won't nap at home.
The issue is that he NEEDS a nap. He becomes a terror when his "quiet time" is over (hitting, biting, throwing things, screaming, climbing and jumping off everything, screaming). Obviously he's two and some of this behavior is "normal," but it's really out of control in the afternoons. We put him to bed early, but I can't put him to bed at 5. Ideas? Advice? Will his body eventually regulate and adjust to not napping?

Re: Nap or lack there of
From your post, he is running around and playing... Not quiet time.

I on the other hand really miss the naps. We don't do quiet time either.
This did fix nighttime issues we were having so it was worth it but man I miss naptime.
Mine stopped napping about the same age and it lasted about 3 months. I would put him in his room with the lights off and he would play with his toys (not always quietly). It was brutal - he still needed the nap. I haven't done anything differently, but he started napping again about 3 weeks ago and he is now back to napping every day.
The only things in his room are a couple books and a couple stuffed toys. He does not stay in his bed though. He gets up and wanders around, tries to take the mattress off the bed, etc. He's very busy. Even when he stays in the bed he's singing and talking. We tried taking the books out, but then he was trying to dump out his dresser drawers. I'm hoping it's just a phase.
